RESPECTING OTHER PEOPLE'S VIEWS.
Re: RESPECTING OTHER PEOPLE'S VIEWS.
Did you know that the organs in our bodies compete for oxygen?
A bit like people on internet forums, metaphorically speaking.

Re: RESPECTING OTHER PEOPLE'S VIEWS.
It's often the least respected views which need to be examined the most since they may contain many nuggets of truths or facts most would object to.

Yes, only 'sometime' landed with extreme views but not hold to any extreme views.Belinda wrote: ↑Sat Nov 24, 2018 11:52 am Veritas Aequitas wrote:

The respect that I give is relative to my own prejudices. I am prejudiced against fascist, dogmatic, conceited, and extreme right-wing views .
(Reply from VA)Such prejudices of yours are leading to dogmatism and bigotry, e.g. how come you did not mention above-average and extreme left-wing views??
This is where Buddhism [& others] Middle-Way is pragmatic and optimal, i.e. not veering towards any extreme side.
Sometimes we have to hold to to our extreme views. Sometimes we have to fight a just war. Sometimes bad people have to be prevented spreading their hate and greed. Would a Buddhist let their child listen to a confirmed predator?
The 'Middle-Way' is like a tightrope walker who at times veered to the maximum limit but he always get back to the middle where his center of gravity of greatest.
War is generically evil and should be avoided as much as possible and eventually be eliminated.
At present we have difficult preventing wars but justified-war should not be a permanent acceptable maxim especially if sanction by a God as an immutable eternal maxim.
Buddhism [generally against violence] would definitely avoid any confirmed predator and more so towards an evident 'pedophile' as a religious exemplar.
Re: RESPECTING OTHER PEOPLE'S VIEWS.
Seems the more we on the forum talk more about respect, the less we manage to garner and dish out. And markedly less than the average over time.
I chalk it up to Christmas approaching.

"I chalk it up to Christmas approaching."
It could be the risin' level of Jesus Happy-Time radiation.
It might be residual tryptophan.
But it's probably tumors...lots and lots of mind-alterin' tumors.

Predation is like jihad.Veritas Aequitas wrote: ↑Sun Nov 25, 2018 4:22 amYes, only 'sometime' landed with extreme views but not hold to any extreme views.Belinda wrote: ↑Sat Nov 24, 2018 11:52 am Veritas Aequitas wrote:

Both predation and jihad have two possible targets.
1. Aiming attention at the world, targets Them.
2. Aiming attention inward, targets Delusion.

And the tumors are not necessarily growing in our brain... they grow on our minds, on our souls.henry quirk wrote: ↑Sun Nov 25, 2018 4:57 am It could be the risin' level of Jesus Happy-Time radiation.

I feel a tremor... is that a tumor? or a femur. Maybe an atavism to a lemur.
Better go and listen to Debussy's "La Mer".

Nothing makes a person more miserable than seeing everyone 'round happier than the person oneself.henry quirk wrote: ↑Sun Nov 25, 2018 4:57 am It could be the risin' level of Jesus Happy-Time radiation.
And that goes whether that's true, and impression, or an illusion. False or dead on the target.

Re: "I chalk it up to Christmas approaching."
I don't think that's true at all. Why would other people being happy make you miserable? That seems a bit warped.-1- wrote: ↑Sun Nov 25, 2018 10:06 pmNothing makes a person more miserable than seeing everyone 'round happier than the person oneself.henry quirk wrote: ↑Sun Nov 25, 2018 4:57 am It could be the risin' level of Jesus Happy-Time radiation.

Read the post. Only if I'm not as happy as they are. That's part of the setup or one necessary but not sufficient premise.vegetariantaxidermy wrote: ↑Sun Nov 25, 2018 10:19 pmWhy would other people being happy make you miserable? That seems a bit warped.
And why? I don't know why. Why are we here? Why is there or is there not a creator? why do we live? Why the big banggg? I don't bother with "why" questions that are obviously immaterial and/or unanswerable.

It's true, people who are unhappy, and see over people happy, are more miserable! It's a proven fact.vegetariantaxidermy wrote: ↑Sun Nov 25, 2018 10:19 pmI don't think that's true at all. Bloody ridiculous. They must have asked a lot of nasty people who deserve to be miserable then.Davyboi wrote: ↑Sun Nov 25, 2018 11:00 pmIt's true, people who are unhappy, and see over people happy, are more miserable! Because it makes no sense. That's WHY.-1- wrote: ↑Sun Nov 25, 2018 10:32 pmRead the post. Only if I'm not as happy as they are. Having expectations for any of it to make sense in the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary.
Now THAT doesn't make sense...
