This new topic I've created, is basically a way of me trying to let go of my anger! And giving a reference point for other people to send, igronant, narrow minded, self obsessed people too.. So these idiots can be reminded why they are here!
I myself have recently joined, I joined because I am very interested in these type of topics being discussed! I joined to learn.. I will be honest, before I joined I thought I was quite learned! I was wrong! Lol.. There are many people on this forum who are very intelligent, some of the stuff posted is well out of my league... But with time I will study, learn and comprehend... By learning and asking people on here for advice.. But there is a problem I have got, I was brought up as a child, to respect other people's views opinions, no matter how much they were different from my own! Each person has their opinion, views just as important as our own!
Please respect other peoples views and opinions! A heated discussion is good for the mind and soul!
But to impose your views, ridicule and basically insult people is wrong... So please think about it!
We are a tribal race. We only trust those fully whose basic belief coincides with ours. As a rule. As a mass of people. I'd rather fight for a country and for people who are atheists, than for religious folks of any god. Christians fight for Christians, Muslims for Muslims,and then within that, each for his or her own sect.
I learned this from two books, both were fiction, but very powerful. One said, by an American author, named Mark Twain, in the mouth of a white slave-owner, "Getting a Christian N=r is worth ten times more than getting an ordinary N-r."
The other reference was in my childhood reading. Hungary was bordering in the middle ages with an ever-expanding imperialistic state, the Ottoman Turks. In that book it was described how each side took prisoners, and they only trusted the prisoners with weapons to defend the community if they converted to the faith of the community. This was no joke. God-belief in those days was the rule of the day, and people were willing to go to the stakes in order to save their souls.
So switching religions was not possible, unless your belief also switched. You just did not sell out your soul.
So what do we do today? We are products of evolution, the patterns to most of our cultural and societal icons and institutions were formed in the African Savannah back 100,000 years ago, and was solidified across the species in the next 90,000 years. We proselytize, hopefully and mercilessly. One outcome of this is the absolute war between people holding opposing beliefs. They bar no holds, other than beating or killing each other.
One of the proselytization weapons is ridicule, disrespect. It is a serious business, proselytizing. You spare no expense and you take no prisoners.
The disrespect on these boards are borne out of the mechanism of different faiths; now it has transferred to different beliefs, which does include other as well as the supernatural. VT believes that all Americans are dolts, idiots and boorish slaves to the neo-imprerialist military-industrial complex. And she has some truth with that. She is disrespectful because (maybe even just subconsciously) wants to change the American status quo, and her only weapon is disrespect and ridicule.
Basically, disrespect is a product of a proselytizing fight, to this end:
Anything to try to force people to believe in your own beliefs.
For some, this includes disrespect.
