Why do Christians believe they have God on their side?

Is there a God? If so, what is She like?

Uh oh, demarcation issues. You have to be so careful these days.

Dear forum, please do not act like thumb-sucking bigots ... you know how annoyed Reflex becomes when people invade his turf.

Because Christianity and most religions have a group identity, (hence group ego). An us vs them mentality...of course they think god is on their side. Its just too bad most have no idea what god really is. Its not some guy floating in the clouds. Its right in front of you and can be experienced directly.

All this is projection, there is nothing outside of you that is not your own projection. Or your interpretation of what's there.

There is no knowledge of anything except in this conception, the mentally created world of illusions.
Your point do not make any sense to the OP at all.

From one perspective, that "Christians believe they have God on their side" is also a projection. So what wrong if my points are also projections.
Nothing is wrong..I’m just saying that any thing known is a projection, an interpretation believed to be real. Any believed projection will inevitably manifest, albeit an illusion.
The ability to be able to Distinguish between the rope and the snake is all that’s needed to dispel illusion and see clarity for what it is, metaphorically speaking.
In the 'rope and snake' example it is very easy to expose the illusory effect, i.e. by moving near and pick up the rope to confirm it is a rope and not a snake.

But you are caught in an illusion that is based on thoughts and reason.
Because thoughts are more complicated it is very difficult for you to understand and verify your conclusion of the existence of the Ultimate ONE is an illusion.

Point is your brain/mind has deceived and compelled you to believe the Ultimate ONE is real when it is actually an illusion.

Note the image of the distorted face, where your brain/mind had deceived you to perceive a normal face.
This same deception is in effect when you perceived that is the Ultimate ONE is a real thing when it is an illusion.

The brain/mind is a deceptive appearance in that which is never decieved.

The brain is not the perceiver..it is the receiver....it is the perceived...

Congratulations Reflex; best line of the night. What does any of this have to do with Christianity?

Your above points are not going anywhere.

You need to learn more about the brain and the mind.
The structure and behavior of the brain/mind is very hierarchical with many layers and its specific function.

The human brain comprised of the neurons in the stomach [visceral] through the brain stem to the highest human cortical parts of the brain.
There are also many layers of empirical "I" ness but no independent ontological "I".
This is why many wondered at times how did they end up in situations they would as a normal person would not do.

There is nowhere to go - there is always just this presence, present - herenow - nowhere. Perfect in every way shape and form.

The rest of your post is just intellectual jargon signifying nothing but a bunch of random thoughts believed to be real, a jumbled story told by no one.

Note this is a Philosophy Forum where one must be 'somewhere' within its bearings.
This is not a asylum where there is no where in la la land.

I was referring to the Scientific and psychological knowledge of the brain and you condemned that
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brain
as,
a bunch of random thoughts believed to be real, a jumbled story told by no one.

Something is very wrong with your brain?

Don't you mean the realm of knowledge?

Oh really, that's funny, because my brain has never informed me there is something wrong with it.

Who is this I you are referring to ..is that one who is just an illusion?

If not, please explain who the knower is?

.

I suppose I could ask my brain to stop being so very wrong, like I could ask my heart to stop beating, or I could ask the colour of my eyes to be a different colour, or I could ask my daughter to stop being my daughter.

But I think that's just being slightly irrational don't you think?

Every field of knowledge has its specific Framework and System where its principles, limits, assumptions, etc. are defined.

Note for example the the Scientific Framework and System has its own principles, processes, limits and assumption. A theory cannot qualified as 'scientific' if it does not comply with its requirement.

It is the same with this specific Philosophy Forum which is not for Sex, Sports, Parenthood, and other non-Philosophical topics.

Note, generally, the brains of mental patients will never tell them there is something mentally wrong within their brain.
It is only from their unusual acts and thinking that a psychiatrist can infer there is something wrong with their brain. Corrective actions and drugs will often bring them back to normality.

To me it is very unusual for you to condemn the facts [not my opinions or beliefs] I have presented as 'bullshit' jargons. You should at least prove it rather than merely waived off the point as rubbish.

VA..you're just parroting text book references, being mentally intellectual. Knowledge on demand via memory.

What I'm talking about is this blank silent empty presence of being, aka the unknown.

Find this place, and you will see that this one is not mental. This self hides behind the mental self, it's the treasure in you.

But you have convinced yourself it doesn't exist, so there is nothing I can do to convince you it does.

As for knowledge, anyone can know that, they just look it up in a book or tap into the universal field of source energy and rememeber it that way.

Might "this" be yours? Might there be many ways and dimensions to perceive/experience? What rules, definitions, and ultimate truth do you imagine?
Dontaskme wrote: Thu Sep 13, 2018 11:20 am Find this place, and you will see that this one is not mental.
The way you imagine it to be something for others to find is very telling. (Seems religious.) Why would anyone need to stand where you do and see what you do? Why do so many people think that what they see is THE truth, and others need to see the same? Perhaps you will eventually discover other vantage points from your current one. Maybe what you currently see is just one facet of a prism.

''Other'' is mental activity.

All mental activity comes from the same place, namely, this one present silence, namely, now here, NOWHERE non-mental)

If you believe you come from somewhere else, do disclose.

Do you come from a land called religion, you seem to like using that word?

What is religion - where is religion?

.

'Where did I come from' ?

Answer comes silence.

The answer is in the one question to all our answers.
