Is there a better way to go?
Had a neighbor who said she made love to her husband of 17 years (with her on top) when all of a sudden, he died. I suggested it probably worked out for the best.

When you die of a heart attack or a stroke or something in that area, you experience a period of pain and fear - nomather how great the minutes previous to it was. So yeah, I could think of better ways. Any way that makes you not experience pain and fear. Instant death.

You're overlooking the pleasure that comes from sex. Are you saying that pain (and fear) always outweighs the pleasure? And what way (besides unconsciousness or sleep) can you avoid the pain?QuantumT wrote: ↑Thu May 03, 2018 9:22 pm When you die of a heart attack or a stroke or something in that area, you experience a period of pain and fear - nomather how great the minutes previous to it was. The pleasure of sex - vs. - The trouble involvedPhilosophy Explorer wrote: ↑Fri May 04, 2018 2:28 am You're overlooking the pleasure that comes from sex. Are you saying that pain (and fear) always outweighs the pleasure? And what way (besides unconsciousness or sleep) can you avoid the pain?

Pleasure: 10 minutes average, if all goes well.
Troubles: The risk of pragnancy. The risk of a STD. The risk of future emotional drama. The risk of jealousy (even from a 3rd party). The risk of different expectations and feelings. The awkwardness afterwards.
Quick painless deaths: Bullit through the brain (not knowing). Being crushed by a large falling object. Carbonmonoxide poisoning etc...

Only puritanical peoples would imagine such a death desirable. Or, perhaps pseudo-intellectual South American Catholics.
How much better is the death of the nihilist Mishima? Death as a work of art written on the meaninglessness of human being. The most painful possible!!! Writing a beautiful poem on the viscera with a steel sword, passionately choosing one's death, the brilliant light flashing behind the eyelids at the moment of annihilation.
