They look like cracker hayseeds.

Unsophisticated is not knowing what you're looking at.
They are sheriffs. At 'trial'. They don't look terribly worried do they?
I'm pretty sure that 'redneck' doesn't mean everyone who is white and comes from the South.

Murderers are unsophisticated. It’s not because anyone says so. That’s just the way of brute force, and it doesn’t get any more brutal than murder. A brute is unsophisticated, like an animal. Not because of the words, but because of the intent and actions; the desire to say the ultimate No. Roger Moore James Bond is a British fantasy that ignores the reality of cause and effect.

This is why eventually one reaches a state of consciousness where those habitual little no’s in life are seen for what they are, without even trying. The principle is seen. Those habitual daily “No’s” are little virtual murdering invalidations.

“No” is the principle of invalidation. Murder is the top of the scale.

Saying no to everything else, with the sole intent of rubbing it out, is further down on the scale of invalidation.
Same principle, different manifestion.

Murder of a person is invalidation with extreme prejudice.

But all No's invalidate, either life, ideas, hopes, opportunities, and so on .... most unsophisticated.

And why isn't simultaneously holding the opposing viewpoint, sophistication?

Because Life is the measure of all things.

A subset of this is, Man is the measure of all things - Protagoras.
A murdered man who forgives, as did Jesus, is the measure of men.

That's just the natural way of things, with implications.

The best that lesser folks than Jesus can usually expect is to keep the carnage of No's to a minimum, without the extremes.

Does being a murderer make you unsophisticated?
Absolutely.
A policeman once said to me, we don't usually catch the smart ones, I would think that smart equates to intelligent and sophisticated.

That is a very unsophisticated point of view.

Going beck to the original meaning, a redneck was an extreme patriot who believed that the USA could do no wrong and favored the military style of haircut that left the back of the neck exposed to sunburn, hence redneck. As opposed to the long haired freaky people who opposed the war in Vietnam. I was there and remember very clearly the sides drawn up over the war.

Interesting. I thought it just meant they had big fat ruddy faces and necks. :)

That was the original meaning, Jeff Foxworthy has corrupted it to mean something completely different.

By Foxworthy's definition, I'm a redneck, but I like classical music and read books on Zen Buddhism, both activities are definitely non-redneck. But I do drive a pickup truck, but only because I see the utility of hauling things that I can't haul in a car.

I suppose it refers to people like this.
Are you judging them by appearance, that is very unsophisticated on your part.
Yes. It's not hard to see how cocky they are. They are on trial for the murder of three civil rights workers.

You are familiar with the photo, do all rednecks look like that? What about the ones in my video, are they typical rednecks, or are you just being prejudice against Americans.

It's not my expression. Those two are generally what people think of as 'rednecks'. And it's Americans who seem to come up with these 'prejudiced' names for each other. What about Hillbillies? Those supposedly toothless, inbred people? Actually they were anything but. I don't know what they are like now though. You are just trying to take offence where there is none.

Being called sophisticated is a doubtful compliment, or it should be.

It comes from sophists, those whom Socrates criticised.
They were people who charged a lot of money and promised you to teach you how to get along in the world by using tricks of rhetoric mainly and also other tricks.

Today´s lawyers without scruples are typical sophists.
They argue in favour of their clients, no matter what, because they are paid.
They sue whoever they are paid for doing so, leaving moral considerations aside.

As for a term describing poetically someone who is a little naiv and not skillful and sneaky, how about a dumb-bell ?

A dumb-bell is an inanimate object so no group of people can feel offended by it.
Like in the case of a simple-minded patriot.

Can you be a simple-minded patriot and still a decent person or is it unthinkable ?
A real question, not a provocative or "sophisticated" one.

Lots of words and phrases started out meaning something different to what they mean now. Wouldn't it be more useful to assume the current, generally accepted definition of words is what is intended? In the case of this thread: What people these days normally mean when they say "Redneck".

There couldn't have been a very big market for sheep back then, or any farm produce, for that matter. I mean, there were only four people in existence, weren't there.

I dunno, Harbal. Two teenage boys and the only woman on the planet is their mum...
