Protectionism
The law of modern society would appear to be entirely about two facets of one thing. Defining what we and communities need and protecting that right, and plain Protectionism for a person or community against others.
What we call 'Free Trade' is merely a definition of whatever does not need tariffs or quotas.
The whole of trade or commerce in civilised society requires protectionism. Defining the standards of products, of wages and working conditions, of social benefits, and much more.
The need for quotas and tariffs can only be decided, product by product, as between particular parties as long as suitable social conditions last. Trade and commerce is not what plutocrats want but what society needs.
Assuming we live in altruistic society, and not a commercial tyranny, or anarchistic society.

Re: Protectionism
Economic protectionism is crony capitalism.
