Sadly you do not seem to be a great psychologist, and knee jerk with standard darwinist interpretations which do not match reality. You get me wrong all the time and tend to spew something about people being over bearing and arrogant, which is what YOU appear to be.SpheresOfBalance wrote:OK, now I know what the problem is. OFTEN, very often, I speak from my knowledge in psychology. I speak of the why's people do as they do. To me it goes hand in hand with philosophy. Why?Hobbes' Choice wrote:Exactly what I could have asked you!!!!SpheresOfBalance wrote: What the hell are you talking about?![]()

Why not read back to yourself your last offering and suggest how it might related to designer babies.Because if one doesn't understand human motivation, including their own, then often their thoughts, beliefs, reasoning, and then assertions, come off as shallow, superficial, and uneducated, as they don't know why they say the things they do, they believe they do, but that's as far as it goes, and it's quite obvious, at least to people like me. Contrary to a lot of peoples belief here, I'm a very deep person, delving much deeper in peoples words than most do.

People do not argue in the light of the survival. You homespun evolutionary psychology just falls short of the mark every time. Winning arguments on this Forum is not going to earn me any success in sexual selection; its not going to get me a mate. Loosing an argument would be as about as effective for getting me a fuck tonight, in fact.
I've been in a happy relationship for 12 years. My son is 21 tomorrow and I do not want another one. SO your evolutionary psychology does not play out for me. I don't give a rat's arse for my selective advantage. I can make enemies here with no consequences for my selective potential. Think that over. You do that too. You see no benefit in rallying the troops not gaining kudos that would be of benefit in your selective potential. This is a consequence free environment in that regard.
People act in ways that are negative to their own interest all the time. Sometimes they act in their interest and that is when E-Pychs grasp at their straws of selective bias, and draw their ready made conclusions to justify their ideology. When no selective advantage is obvious, they squeeze what they can and invent advantage out of the plethora of survival neutral acts that fill people's lives - having long ago achieved their Darwinian Imperative, as I have, in bringing to the world viable progeny.
So why not just deal with the topic? The whole point about "designer babies" is that the rules of evolutionary psychology (if they ever were valuable), are null and void.
