Do you realize that you are not this body?

Is there a God? If so, what is She like?

Do you realize that you are not this body?

Post by AiR »

We often say, “This is my hand, my leg, my mind - this is my body.” Whose body is it? Who are we referring to? When we say, “This is my body, my hand and my foot,” who is this ‘me’ speaking? Have we ever stopped to think that we are actually not the body? It is our body of course, but we are not the body. It is so simple!

What happens at death? The body lies there decaying, rotting because we left the body. The moment we leave the body, the body is nothing but five elements of nature: air, earth, water, space and fire. It disintegrates into ashes. Is it so difficult to realize the truth that we are not this body? Although we can see that we are not this body; although we know that at death, we leave the body and move on, and that the body is cremated or buried; still, we want to fool ourselves in to believing that we are the body. Such is this world; such is the suffering of this world! Unfortunately, until we realize this truth, we will continue to be on this journey of death and rebirth, death and rebirth. Why not stop and realize the truth? - that I am not the body but the fact that I am embodied, I am capsuled into this physical form. I am a Spirit that has human experience, but I am not the body and neither am I the mind. I am the Atman, the Soul, the Divine Power that gives life to the body – that’s why the body is born. It is because I enter the body that it is conceived on earth, is born and grows up and then eventually dies. I leave the body, but all along my ego continues to fool me and tells me that I am the body, I am the mind.

Is it not time to stop, to reflect, to think that I am not the body, but the Atman, the Spirit, the Soul?

The one that believes it is the body is the same one that believes it is the Atman. Both ideas are false.
If the one believing it is the body is not ..then who is the other one saying it is the Atman?

Only the mind is born ... the body / Atman are unborn/ unseen ideas of the mind...ideas are born. In other words illusions are born.

See through the illusion and know that no ''thing'' has never been born....except the belief/idea.

Both body and spirit...are mental constructs only, see through that illusion and realise there is no one being a body and no one being the spirit.

The whole story of ''I'' is built on illusion. Whether it be the ''I'' of manifestation or the ''I'' without an object.

Tis all story a tale told by no one...signifying nothing.

And yet it's all a very grand illusion....lets not forget that.

“Your body, the society, the forest, and the ways are all in you; you are not in them. You are the body also, but not this body exclusively. If you remain as your pure Self, the body and its movements need not affect you.”

Only mind is born, not you (existence, consciousness).

No ''thing'' is immortal...only that which is not a thing is immortal....and that which is not a thing cannot exist....but is essential for things to appear to exist. You live in illusion and the appearance of things. There is a reality, but you do not know this. When you understand this. You will see that you are nothing. And being nothing you are everything. They are the same one. That is all.

The real Self is the Self that is not a Self.

This is not even a nihilistic belief. As all belief's require a believer...there is no believer...all beliefs are illusion appearing real.

Proof of body/being that you unexclusively are:

Notice how your own facial expression changes when unexpectedly confronted by a mirror. Notice how the facial expressions of other people also change when they confront a mirror. If you are laughing and you unexpectedly see your reflection, the moment of recognition will affect your facial expression. Tis surprising to see reflections of surprise in eyes that see the surprise as one’s own.

The specifics of the facial change tell whether the mirror is undistorted or funhouse.

If funhouse, people begin making funny faces at bent mirrors that distort reflections.

The anomoly to normalcy that is swiftly becoming the standard is the selfie-stick. Newer selfie sticks come with a legal disclaimer that warn of overuse that may inseparably graft the stick-induced face-mask onto one’s true identity. Selfie-stick overuse indulgence is a natural human reaction to an unnatural situation, namely, Narcissis gazing into the still pool.

This leads to the scientific question: If continuously exposed to funhouse reflections, will the mind adjust perception to “normal” as the mind does when it adjusts upside-down optics to rightside-up perception? Indications are yes. In fast-changing times the race is always on to find find the new upside-down in response to minds continuously uprighting the old upside-down.

Q&A acceleration:

Who experiences? Embodied awareness.

What is experienced? The stage and the play, sometimes both.

Is the what the who? No.

Can awareness be unembodied? No.

Can human perceive all bodies that embody awareness given human limitations in perception? No, however human potential may not be realized.

"Do you realize that you are not this body?"

Yes, I am.

You may be an enfleshed spirit, but me, I'm meat and nuthin' but meat.

"Do you realize that you are not this body?"

The problem with "realizing" that is that I don't agree with you. I'm identical to my body; my consciousness is identical to particular states of my brain.

You cease to exist as a conscious, living thing.
although we know that at death, we leave the body and move on,
That's what I call a fantasy--and a nice one at that--rather than something that anyone knows.
