It's true that they have always been those that consider themselves the upper crust, having positioned themselves such that it can always be that way. That lobbying is legal shows what they really are, thieves of the poorer people, pawns of the richest, as they're bought and sold, devoid of any real ethical considerations.

It's because governing yourself and taking responsibility for your own actions seems to be a more and more difficult thing for most people to do nowadays. Most people are still like children in needing guidance mostly because they weren't raised in a way that enables them to be more self-sufficient and responsible.

It is my opinion that most of society's problems are a result of bad, or a lack of, parenting, and this results in people developing with too much attention given to them (they're spoiled and think that their needs are more of a priority than the needs of others), or not enough attention given to them (and they will do almost anything to get attention).

People who are also raised without any sense of self-worth, or who were raised to believe everyone is out to get them and put them down, or that the world just isn't fair and that you will never be able to succeed, are those people who are easily offended and are a threat to free speech. Most people aren't offended by a joke that makes fun of them in some way, or generalizes a particular group of people. Many people can laugh at self-deprecating humor. Some don't and find it offensive. Because some do and some don't means that words spoken that results in someone being offended isn't a universal immoral act. Because of this difference means we should be looking at the reasons why some are offended by the same speech that others aren't offended by, and I propose that the reason is because they have a depleted sense of worth about themselves. They give to much power to others to define them.

When someone does something stupid, it limits the liberty of everyone else because then the govt. expands it's power by making more laws. This is how the govt. acquires more power - by taking advantage of mishaps and disasters to expand it's power in an attempt to control more of the population. By dumbing down the population and by promoting a lack of responsibility for your actions (it's always someone else's fault), and by directing the population's hatred against other citizens (Democrat vs. Republican, Liberal vs. Conservative) rather than at the govt. itself for it's abuse of power and corruption, the govt. is slowly and silently acquiring more power that will spell the end for individual liberties.

I would say that what she did is wrong because she doesn't own the medium in which she is using to make her art. National Parks are for all of us to enjoy and to experience the natural world without being exposed to someone's self-centered grab for attention. Why couldn't she just have drawn these pictures on paper while hiking and then post them on the internet for others to see, and share her art that way? This seems to be one of those examples of people thinking their wants and needs supersede the wants and needs of others.

I live in south Louisiana. Past few days we've had a godawful amount of rain and now have flooding. Civil authorities, over and over, encouraged folks to be sensible and stay off the roads. For one, driving through flood waters is liable to leave a body stranded when the car dies. For another, driving through flood waters stirs up a wake that goes plowing into homes making the bad, worse.

So what did a great many of my fellow Louisianians do? Drive through flood waters, get stranded, get rescued by an already strained EMS and police system; and, cause thousands of more dollars in damage to homes already flooded.

What did local government do in response? Issue curfews to restrain idiots who won't restrain themselves, idiots who now complain about the restraint.
