Re: Religious beliefs we are absolutely sure about??
I am absolutely sure that religious beliefs exist and will continue to exist as long as there are humans to believe in them

Beliefs appear in no believer.
Re: Religious beliefs we are absolutely sure about??
There are countless variations of religious beliefs... and each variation is considered to be “ultimate truth” by the believer.
The title of this thread could appear to identify beliefs that WE (all) are absolutely sure about... which it cannot and does not do. Rather, if it said YOU... then that would more clearly reflect that it is about individual varied beliefs.

Similar archetypes appear worldwide throughout history. Man always tries to explain the unknown, to find succour in it.

So what if it is?Dontaskme wrote:"Nothing ever happened,

This is ACIM thinking, which impresses me about as much as LW.

Oh fuck off Reflux. What is your problem? You have to keep throwing your little snipey barbs like a coward when I'm not even talking to you or about you (and you're supposedly ignoring me). There is nothing wrong with my perspective. I don't push it on you... so LET IT BE! Stop being such an arrogant man baby. Not everybody believes your self-important delusions -- accept it. You're not near as brilliant and as sure of yourself as you project yourself to be if you keep flapping over me having a different perspective. It seems to show that my questioning bothers you. Personally, the fact that you cannot even appreciate SOME of my flexible perspective suggests that you are in a static box. There's always some value/truth to be found beyond oneself, if you're not too busy stroking yourself to notice.Reflex wrote:which impresses me about as much as LW

('Reflux'. Lol!)
Re: Religious beliefs we are absolutely sure about??
ROFLMAO!! Thanks for posting that Dalek. I wouldn't have seen that if somebody didn't post it. (BTW, I almost used "Reflux" because I used to work in an oil refinery and reflux is a critical part of the distilling process and can be a useful analogy.)Dalek Prime wrote:Hey! Re: Religious beliefs we are absolutely sure about??
There are no actual individual variations of religious belief in reality...only beliefs about individual variations of religious belief.Lacewing wrote:There are countless variations of religious beliefs... and each variation is considered to be “ultimate truth” by the believer.

Been there, done that. I no longer appreciate radical mysticism: it's the abandonment of the creative process -- escapism.Dontaskme wrote:Dontaskme wrote:"Nothing ever happened,

These appear to be a Nihilist's stance, and both are wrong.Dontaskme wrote:"Nothing ever happened,

Beliefs appear in no believer.
Many things have happened, and for there to be a belief, there must be a believer.
