Really?
In the news today, it is claimed that flossing may be ineffective in protection from gingivitis and other oral problems. To which I must say, bullshit! Removing shitloads of crap, decay and bacteria from between your teeth has got to be a great thing.
What is this planet coming to?

OH HAPPY DAY! I just went to the dentist on Monday, and gave my usual sincere but useless promise that I would floss until the end of my days, and NOW I can chuck that little floss box out the window. YIPPEE!Dalek Prime wrote:In the news today, it is claimed that flossing may be ineffective...

As to what I'm eating? I just told you; 'shitloads of crap, decay and bacteria'. How do you think it got between my teeth? The anti-tooth fairy? I eat this shit.

Agree Dalek, it's biology. Leave resources for hungry critters to live in between your teeth and, once get through the stuff between the teeth they have to eat something. That something is you.
I think there was a case recently where someone picked up a freak infection after dislodging bacteria by flossing. Weird stuff can happen with teeth. My nephew was seriously ill from an infection in his left elbow contracted by bacteria that travelled from his mouth during teething. Potential legal liability from recommending flossing and a "bacterial incident" occurs?
To me the moral of the story is, when flossing, rinse, don't swallow, and maybe follow up flossing with a germicidal mouthwash or propolis.
Fine words. It must be a month at least since I flossed.

Re: Really?
Why would anyone want to deprive all that bacteria of nourishment? It's animal cruelty. I say ditch the floss and toothpaste forever.

My mouth is not a protected corral reef for bacterial refuge.vegetariantaxidermy wrote:Why would anyone want to deprive all that bacteria of nourishment? It's animal cruelty. I say ditch the floss and toothpaste forever.

Re: Really?
It's just the way one flosses. Gently but firmly, down the sides of the teeth, away from the gums. No sawing. Flossing done right shouldn't take more than a couple of minutes, once the procedure is learned.Greta wrote:Lacewing wrote:I just went to the dentist on Monday, and gave my usual sincere but useless promise that I would floss until the end of my days ...Dalek Prime wrote:In the news today, it is claimed that flossing may be ineffective...The truth hath been spake!
