That should be obvious, but since I know you lack very basic cognitive abilities it must be a mystery forever!Dalek Prime wrote:Ummm, exactly what did you add?

Re: Faith without knowledge
You're quite right: without some kind of knowledge, faith would be impossible. it would lack any referent at all, wouldn't it?dee-u wrote:Hi guys, I am new to this forums, I hope somebody here could shed light on the following question of mine. I am not even sure if it has been asked before, if it is then I'm sorry for bringing it up again. Is the following question even a logical one?
"I don't know but I have faith".
As the definition of knowledge is still being debated as of today, can't we claim that we "know" God exists therefore we have faith in Him? If I have no prior knowledge on the existence of God then how can I have faith in Him?
I hope you understood the question. Thank you so much!
I'll give you what the Bible says on this in Hebrews, rather than merely what I think. "Without faith, it is impossible to please God; for the one who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is the Rewarder of those who seek Him."
"that He is" means "that He actually exists," obviously; and "that He is the Rewarder..." means that He will respond to the "seeker" by revealing Himself to them. Without some willingness on our part to believe both, He promises we will discover nothing; but with even a little of both, we will.
So "I don't know but I have faith," if taken to mean "I don't know anything at all, would actually be a self-contradiction. There would no reason to have "faith" if one does not believe there is any Object toward which to direct that faith.
