Did you not say the following to Greta a few posts ago:Dontaskme wrote: Your the one who's confused not me, if you can't keep on topic talk to someone else.
Dontaskme wrote:So what good is an education, what will I do with that except make some money, or to pretend I'm clever.
Dontaskme wrote:Is anything going to change if I get an education, what will change..?
And now you say...Dontaskme wrote:do you think the world is a better place for being educated...look around...I don't see a healthy world do you? I see a very sick world.
I was trying to come up with a reason why you were suddenly acting as if your statements weren't about you.Dontaskme wrote:I'm not talking about being above others and not needing an education ..where on earth have you got that idea from
Because you did, didn't you?Dontaskme wrote:Why the heck are we suddenly talking about education now???
Do you have some kind of mental imbalance, and can't remember what you say from one minute to the next?Dontaskme wrote:Honestly lacewing, your completely losing the plot of this thread, please stop talking to me unless you've got something relative to the topic thread to discuss, your starting to give me a headache.
How about if you take responsibility for what you've said, and stop acting like other people are the problem?Dontaskme wrote:How about we just start again, forget what's been discussed in the past and lets just start from scratch...
So are you just playing a big game... or are you seriously fucked up?Dontaskme wrote:I will be happy to answer any question you have...but you will not be asking me, you will be asking the one that knows all the answers.
Re: Truth is not found in mental chatter.
LW...Greta brought up the subject of education...she suggested I need to get some education. So I started to get carried away with the pros and cons of knowledge aka education.
That aside.. the thread kind of strayed off topic, I apologise for being confusing...the fact is I don't want to talk about education.
human forum interaction can get very confusing especially when there is no face to face contact or body language ...so sorry for making it worse, but honestly I tell you now, I'm not interested in talking about worldly things...I just want to talk about nonduality, maybe I never made myself clear enough, I hope you understand me better ..if you want to run a mile ...i don't blame you.
I like you LW...

Okay, I'll take responsibility in what I've said...everything I've said so far is mentally fucked up.Lacewing wrote: How about if you take responsibility for what you've said, and stop acting like other people are the problem?
I'll try to talk in a fashion that others are able to relate to and not think I am mentally imbalanced or fucked up...okay? you up for it?
I don't care what people think about me because this is not about me, it's about nonduality, I love the subject, it's such a beautiful subject, but if people are not interested then so be it, they don't have to listen or respond.
Ken loves the subject too, so do many others here, including Nick_A ,Scott, Reflex, Bill and probably some others...I haven't mentioned..

Re: Truth is not found in mental chatter.
Thank you, and thanks for the clarification. I very much appreciate your honesty and clarity. I do feel like I wasted my time responding to what you'd said, because you decided you didn't want to talk about it anymore... to such a degree that it's like it no longer existed, and then I was kind of attacked for suggesting that it did. Too weird for me this morning... so I'm going to take a break.Dontaskme wrote: I hope you understand me better not...if you want to run a mile i don't blame you.

That's the beauty of not living in the mental chatter of the mind... I can observe the mental activity without attaching to it, so everything just seems to pass straight through like it never happened, that's what happens to people who choose to live in the no mind of pure awareness.Lacewing wrote:Thank you, and thanks for the clarification. Do you know what the following zen quote means?? report back to me with your answer...and do not cheat by looking up the answer on the internet. Find your own answer within you.
''The wild geese do not intend to cast their reflection, The water has no mind to receive their image.''
I'll know if you've cheated, because I can recognise the difference between true and false awakened minds...

Game playing, DAM. A way of saying "I'm better" without providing content or reasoning. That's the problem; in lieu of knowledge you are bluffing. This game-playing in lieu of genuine curiosity about reality looks to be a result of adversarial nature of the legal system, politics and the media.Dontaskme wrote:I'll stop giving you advice.. if you stop giving me advice.Greta wrote:As a former musician and cartoonist who's also worked in digital art, graphic design and web design and dabbled with short stories, I don't think I need your advice as to how to tap into imagination.
How stupid do you have to be to think that people here aren't aware of TM and the claims around it? "After TM" brain scans have been going around the web for years. Your continual celebration of ignorance is unbalanced, retrograde, trendy, shallow and, sadly, this anti-intellectual attitude seems to be very common in the US these days.
Please. Get an education.
I don't need an education... I'm self taught, and very good at what I do-n't do, and very very very very very knowledgable in what I do-n't know.![]()
But I don't expect you to understand that.
So be it.
Being educated does not require formal study. I'm a high school dropout, and only ever set foot in university grounds as a shortcut or to use their tennis courts. However, it's illogical and impractical to disregard the body of knowledge accumulated by those far smarter and more perceptive than either of us. Why not use the ideas of those with extraordinary insights and knowledge?
This looks like a matter of humility. You treat others' insights as an attempt at dominance and refuse to submit. Others see those same insights as gifts, things to seriously consider. This lack of humility and resultant solipsism are display behaviours akin to a puffer fish filling themselves with air so as to appear larger than they are, and increasingly common in the self-obsessed, hubristic and decaying empire of the USA.
The stem issue there is insecurity. The scientific method makes us more physically secure but more mentally insecure because science is not about revealing "eternal truths"; it's a process of being ever less wrong. There's no solid ground in science to ease the fears of the existentially insecure, so the latter deride productive thought as "mental chatter" because silence is their only relief from their fears of obliteration.
It's also a misunderstanding of the old mystics' comments about "mental chatter", which were not about discouraging an interest in the workings of nature. Genuine gurus tend to take aim at their followers' negative loops of insecure thoughts centred on the self. That is genuine "mental chatter" and something to avoid. The scientific method is simply a methodical and logical way to approach life's mysteries, but it is not, and has never been, about uncovering the ultimate truth because the regression issues seem insurmountable.

Re: Truth is not found in mental chatter.
You are wrong in your assumptions here, especially wrong to assume I'm into or this is about solipsism, It's just an easy put down thing to say, I absolutely hate that concept. It's so misunderstood. Also, You are wrong to assume mystics love silence because there is a fear of obliteration, basically you are just plain wrong about everything you have said to me in above post, simply because we are living and following entirely different lives from one another. We can only journey the paths of our own choosing. No one is better than anyone else here, the job of a shelf filler or a toilet cleaner is just as important as someone who is a Phd master of geographical sciences. We each journey our own individual life path, we learn what we are ready to take on at every moment of our lives as part of human evolutionary personal growth. What's right for me right now might not be right for you and vice versa. We should not judge or demean other peoples life choices. Don't waste your breath on someone not walking the same path as you. I have never not once not had anything but great respect for other peoples personal life choices.Greta wrote:Game playing, DAM. A way of saying "I'm better" without providing content or reasoning. Humans are naturally seekers of truth in one form or another, a scientist is a disguised mystic. Same difference. We're all at it, except some appear to be in denial. Why mock those who have found their own truth... why put them down? awakened people are a valuable asset to society.

Of all the things I've lost. I miss my mind the most. Better to keep your mouth shut and appear stupid than to open it and remove all doubt.
