Should you think about your duty, or about the consequences of your actions? Or should you concentrate on becoming a good person?

Jails and prisons are designed to break human beings, to convert the population into specimens in a zoo - obedient to our keepers, but dangerous to each other.

And what are violent and callous criminals designed to do?

What can't you accept about the concept?
Isn't even your statement, I can't accept intrinsic value full of intrinsic meaning, thus intrinsic value?

I can't accept that value isn't given by mind. That value in itself is nothing but a thing bestowed by mind.

By value , do you mean existence?
Things do exist that our beyond our comprehension but they don't come into our existence until someone conceives that existence.
All existence, all things, carry an intrinsic value the moment we are able to conceive it.
If you cannot accept something, that thing still maintains existence. Still has intrinsic value.

That's the thing. What embues something with value? What is value without mindful appraisal?
Is it alright with you, Bill, if we move this value discussion to my thread on it, to keep it in one place?

Good for her. People who say they can't change anything, and use that as an excuse for apathy and laziness, should think of the butterfly effect.
