Why do we find it so difficult to trust someone? Why do we doubt? When we look at somebody, we are not able to trust them immediately. Have you ever wondered why?

I must really be the odd man out, because my first reaction is to trust another person in what they tell me, but I usually don't give them any money till they prove to be reliable. It's only when they say or do something that I can determine is not true that I decide to not trust them, and unfortunately those are too many for comfort. In spite of the numerous individuals that cannot be trusted 100% I will still allow the newly acquainted person, trust till proven otherwise.

When people tell me stupid things, or that which is probably untrue, I don't care, as long as it doesn't impact me directly. Hey, you were kidnapped by aliens? Good for you. Your dad was Howard Hughes? Excellent. Enjoy your family legacy. You're a prophet? Sure, why not. You're a cop? Show me your badge, or get lost. Even then, why do you want to stop and question me?

Been there, done that, and I have actually been surprised when someone payed my back the money they borrowed. Other times I gave the money away and didn't ever expect to see it back, and that's OK. Odd though, books are another thing, I really want to have that knowledge back.

Again, me too. I have a very old friend who borrowed a book from me as a youth. He still has it on his bookshelf. I want it back, but after all this time, it would feel weird asking for it, as he's clearly cared enough to keep it. Perhaps I should ask to 'borrow' it?
