Sir Karl Marx...

Post by marjoram_blues »

...Sir Friedrich Nietzsche
...Sir Sigmund Freud

All three dead white male thinkers described as game-changers by Bettany Hughes who traces the origins of their work in a new BBC 4 series.

Last night, I half-listened to the examination of Marx, who I've never really troubled myself to understand.
Bettany Hughes is fascinating to watch and listen to - she reminded us of the dangers of 'ideas calcifying into ideologies'...that the written word, as Plato said, 'is often an orphan' and can be wilfully abused'.

-----

So, we should never stop questioning...
Orthodox ideas - Tradition...
like the UK Honours System.
'Sir' indeed !

This informative series, produced by BBC Religion and Ethics, can help enlighten minds, to challenge the status quo and to grow our own philosophiy of life. It's all good ! The honours go to Bettany and team :)

Connivin' Karl: some body shoulda shot that son of a bitch early on...never has a more diseased perspective led so many to the abatoir.

Mad Fred: stole his best ideas from Stirner (muckin' them up in the process)...the iconoclast who would be King.

Nose Candy Siggy: another son of a bitch who directed (directs) a whole whack of folks to the abatoir...him and L. Ron share a cell in Hell's basement.

OK, the show is on!
I'm an ignorant but interested spectator.

Questions to henry:
what do you know about the perspective of Marx ?
why do you consider this perspective diseased?
who and how many were led by his ideas?
which 'abattoir' and where ?

what do you know about the perspective of Marx ?

Enough.

why do you consider this perspective diseased?

It reduces the human individual to piece and part, much in the same way its advocates claim capitalism does.

who and how many were led by his ideas?

I'm thinkin' you already this answer to this one.

which 'abattoir' and where ?

Ditto.

:)

What is the source of 'Enough'?
Please show me where you got that one piece of information about the perspective of Marx.
You be thinkin' wrong, dear Henry. ( even with the editing )
Good show of avoidance. Slip-slide some more and you'll fall off the stage.
Next act...

Except of course everybody ignored his actual idea which was Historical Materialism.
Mad Fred: stole his best ideas from Stirner (muckin' them up in the process)...the iconoclast who would be King.
Still reading Stirner and not sure I think either of them that accurate about humans, maybe good on a specific culture but in general, court is still out for me.
Nose Candy Siggy: another son of a bitch who directed (directs) a whole whack of folks to the abatoir...him and L. Ron share a cell in Hell's basement.
Couldn't agree more but his real sin appears to be rewriting his stuff to get published as his original work appears to have been ignored by the culture at the time, i.e. that women's hysterics were based upon actually being beaten, abused and raped within and without the family.

I think he has confirmed my analysis of his knowledge claim.
