Not another f@cking thread on atheism.

Is there a God? If so, what is She like?

No, it isn't.
Calling BOLLOCKS! when you see it is not a system; it is a simple rejection.
Theists have nothing to lose if they are wrong.
Except the firstlings of all their flocks, their worldly goods, their freedom and their sanity. Small price to pay for a long-shot at being selected for the choir that spends eternity praising the god who gave your kid leukemia - right?
These clowns will never learn.

1) Deep down they realise that their belief system is in adequate.
2) They have to insist that the people criticising their belief system for being inadequate, is also a belief system
3) They then criticise "atheism" for being an inadequate belief system.
4) If they were half as smart as they think they are, and and twice as smart are they actually are, they would have enough intelligence to know that they have shot themselves in the foot.
5) But if they were blessed with an average intelligence they'd know that Atheism is, as you say, just declaring Theism Bollocks.

Believe nothing; seek to know.

Thousands were killed in falling churches. Many others wondered what sort of god would do this to his biggest fans.
I too lifted it in toto from a google search and toto don't weigh so much.

Your observation speaks to man’s comprehension of causation on a planet and in a universe of which he knows very little yet in the context of which he presumes to identify evidence.

1755 is the year if I remember.

I seems to remember that it was referenced in Candide., which was a parody of the idea; " All for the best, in the best of all possible Worlds". hinting that gad was incapable of preventing that event.

This is like women or men who get beat up saying, "I deserved it". You die while worshipping God, but when someone asks why god didn't protect them, the answer is basically, "they deserved it" in the guise of,"you have no idea of how God and the universe works". Every freaking one of them deserved to die while praying to God? Seriously? You would continue to pray to someone who gives no value to loyalty at all? Why??? What kind of idiocy is this???

Walker, look at your justification. You are not even bothered that people died. To you, when it comes to God, human life has no value. You will defend Him, while ignoring the death of his followers in his own home. How do you expect anyone to believe in your God with this kind of a psychopathic thought process?

Never, ever, let me catch you saying that again! They've had way too much power, for way too long already.
My apologies. It's an English English expression of indifference, it's not a wish to bestow power. I promise not to use it again.

Actually, evidence is easy to identify: it's the stuff you can see.

Exactly. Thus the path is clear.

Subtract the known ignorance that blocks the view, and do not add belief that only adds more obscuration.

It's a reduction process.

Go on a belief diet
To reduce the view
To see the real you
Don't hide behind noisy
Float lightly on quiet

Or just don't believe. So much easier. What is God going to do anyway? Its not like he has much of a role to play in reality. Just be honourable, spend time with your family, appreciate good music, good food, and good company, contribute to society, be helpful, have a good time, appreciate life, learn something new everyday, try and improve yourself everyday. . God becomes redundant if you can do that.

Well tomorrow will be Cassius Mohammad Ali Clay's funeral and the bombardment from his pithy rhymes will melt into the past with him.

He did show that taking too many punches not only makes you punch drunk but it wracks your brain too. Very sad. Same issue as the NFL apparently.

It would be great if wrestling and basketball could forever permanently replace boxing and football respectively.

Football is a bad invention of Rutgers and Princeton in 1873. That was back in the days when "anything goes" went. Cocaine and opium were still legal, and the Indians were still wild roaming the plains.

Boxing has been around since the ancient Greek Olympic games. I guess the Greeks figured out that if you pommel someone's face enough they would eventually end up knocked out, and this could be a contest like the other Olympic sports of wrestling, javelin, discus, running, and chariot racing.

There was a lot of ignorance about boxing and NFL football early on. Now would be a good time to fix it and get rid of these 2 sport in honor of Clay.

Interesting. I saw a documentary about Ali some time ago. He fought a fighter who insisted on calling him Clay. Witnesses said it was brutal, that he could have knocked the fighter out early but instead he held him up and beat him up, and during his sport he would say, “What’s my name?” And then, pow. Why do you think that would have an appeal to humanity, since you reference him as Clay, on the day, before he is laid to rest. And since he was once the most recognizable name on the planet.

His name was Cassius Clay.

That's what his parents named him.

Cassius M. Clay was actually a very notable historic person whom the modern Clay was named after by his parents.

Maybe they wanted him to become a race activist. He did indeed become that in so far as his mouth was concerned.

The most notable feature of Cassius Mohammad Ali Clay, who will be laid to rest tomorrow, is his opposition to being drafted early on way back in 1966 when the Viet Nam war had high ratings and approval.

At the time most people viewed this as selfishness and cowardice on Clay's part.

As it turned out the Viet Nam War ended up being a complete waste of American and Vietnamese lives as the US supported one corrupt puppet regime after another over there.

I am not sure if Clay was lucky or if he had some kind of prophetic foresight.

I am inclined to bet that he was just lucky and a selfish coward after all.

He may have been better off going to Viet Nam and dropping out of boxing.

At least under that scenario he would not have ended up as a mental vegetable.

It is hard to say if he ever realized that rope a dope was not a good long term boxing strategy.

Boxing itself as a sport has proved to be inferior to MMA, which combines boxing with wrestling and other martial arts.

There is less head pounding in MMA than in boxing.
