EU? Who cares anymore?
EU? Who cares anymore?
What is the point of listening to arguments about staying in or coming out of the EU, made by the people who are either trying to persuade us to stay or leave? Every day, all we are getting is somebody from one side or the other coming out with some stupid prediction of what new disaster will befall us if we don't vote the way they want us to. The only thing of any use would be the opinions of well informed experts who are impartial. Anything else is absolutely worthless.

"impartial"??
Re: EU? Who cares anymore?
We expect impartial analysis from certain professionals, don't we? Judges, reporters (BBC, of course) etc. Are there no economic and political know it alls that are capable of it? I'm not barking mad, by the way, just naive. I'll settle for barking naive.Hobbes' Choice wrote:

"We"?? Is that the Royal 'we"? How many of you are inside there?Harbal wrote:We expect impartial analysis from certain professionals, don't we? I do not expect any kind of impartiality. Only a madman thinks such a thing exists.
I think baking mad is better for you than naive; naive just does not suit you.
Re: EU? Who cares anymore?
Impartial would be what are you getting back for all the money you're sending to Brussels. That is the Question!

Who cared in the first place?
As far as I can see this is a classic British political bodge brought on by British party politics. Did anyone really give a toss about us being in the EU other than a few rabid Tories, personally I don't think so, sure people moaned but that's what we do but really was there that much concern? Again I don't think so, this whole farrago(excuse the pun) was due to the Tories fearing they'd lose the general election due to UKIP sucking support off them in the marginals and so to save themselevs they agreed to this referendum and here we are, about to make a momentous decision based upon bugger all facts and against a backdrop of years of bad press from the Tory press and Murdock. Take the immigration bollocks, it was Labour that decided in their wisdom to not cap Eastern European migration to the UK not the EU but let's not let facts get in the way eh! I reckon the City must be shitting themselves right now and Frankfurt rubbing their hands at a Brexit result, they could corner the euro-trade, I mean really has the City been having a hard time being part of the EU, that's a big fat no. Do the Brexiteer's really think China is going to launch the Renminbi with us if we're not in the EU? On top of that we'd still have to abide by EU rules, just like the Swiss, et al, but without the chance of a bloody say in things, stupid! There's other things that aren't being mentioned such as the tender and bidding processes for large EU capital projects, do the Brexiteers really think we'll get a look-in on such things? We won't even be on the mailing list. All a big risk I reckon.
They only thing that might save us if we leave is a Trump win as he's against big block FTA's and apparently wants to re-start tariff trade-wars, now there's a thought!

Yanks, always need an enemy and are very good at creating them.
Mainly I suspect because without one their internal contradictions would cause a collapse.

Ancillary to your topic, I just arrived on this planet and know nothing of your customs and can’t think, so since this is an EU thread, feed me EU. Oh never mind, I’m not a child. I’ll research and think about it first, perhaps even venture down a proffered path and until I can exist as a contributor and not a sponge, I’ll stfu.Arising_uk wrote:Yanks, always need an enemy and are very good at creating them.![]()
