I am looking for suggestions for odd essays, papers or other writings on ideas in the Old Testament or New Testament which would be good reading alongside the Bible.
i.e. I'm thinking of working my way through the bible this year in a philosophical manner, and want to read along with it philosophy that has engaged with particular stories and ideas in the Bible. So trying to put together a sort of "Syllabus" that will take me through the Bible with various secondary readings to go with it.
Examples are things like:
On Abraham and Isaac:
- Soren Kierkehaard - Fear & Trembling
- Jaques Derrida - The Gift of Death
On Epistles of Paul:
- Jacob Taubes - The Political Theology of Paul
- Giorgio Agamben - The Time that Remains
So if you have any advice on interesting philosophical papers on particular books or stories from the bible please post. I have been trying to find Syllabi on Philosophical readings of Old Testament or New Testament but not having a lot of sucesss.
