Re: america is [negative descriptor]
That all seems a bit harsh (except perhaps the redneck sandwich bit).
The USA can exhibit symptoms of insecurity. Every country expects their politicians to stand up and bang the drum about what makes them so fucking special, but nowhere else has quite such a pissy fit if the president forgets to say "Greatest country in the history of the world" in a speech.
You've gotten a bit insular too. The Founding Fathers imported a lot of foreign ideas such as separation of church and state, habeus corpus and all that stuff. But every other advanced nation has universal healthcare at around half the cost to our economies of your patchy alternative. None of us would give that up to have what you have. You guys refuse to take the idea seriously, apparently because this idea isn't American enough for the country that governs itself with a Senate and a President.

Your comments are ambiguous. When you say "none of you", do you mean Americans or non-Americans.FlashDangerpants wrote:What?Hobbes' Choice wrote:Rubbish. Most you you would take all we have.FlashDangerpants wrote: None of us would give that up to have what you have. t.

Probably caused the death of more people than any other conflict in the last 70 years, outside Vietnam/Laos/Cambodia, if you consider the wider implications of the destabilizing effect throughout the Middle East.Pluto wrote:Israel and the US is a strange relationship. What are they doing together

None of us [rest of the rich world] would give up our healthcare systems for what they have in America.Hobbes' Choice wrote: Your comments are ambiguous. When you say "none of you", do you mean Americans or non-Americans.

Nothing strange about it as due to the Russian pogroms and the Nazis, America took the bulk of the Jews that the Europeans tried to slaughter. Add to that that America also helped out when the Arabs and others tried to slaughter them again in the 60's whilst Europe watched on.Pluto wrote:Israel and the US is a strange relationship. What was that in the 60s?

You've just described the strange relationship, not explained it.Arising_uk wrote:Nothing strange about it as due to the Russian pogroms and the Nazis, America took the bulk of the Jews that the Europeans tried to slaughter. That the Jewish Americans help those of their faith, which I think not so strange given their experiences.Hobbes' Choice wrote:You've just described the strange relationship, not explained it.

That does not really explain why the nation as a whole, and against its own interests persists with this insanity. Whilst many of the US establishment are in fact Jews, especially those in control of finance, the Christians, and Christian Right also seem hell bent (literall?) on infuriating and destabilising the middle east. Its almost as if they want to bring about the "End Times".Arising_uk wrote:That the Jewish Americans help those of their faith, which I think not so strange given their experiences.Hobbes' Choice wrote:You've just described the strange relationship, not explained it.
