What use an open mind if you don't speak out?

Such a person who isn't open-minded isn't listening, but is only interested in his/her own views.

A person who speaks out with no one listening wouldn't know that until he gets a deafening silence in response or a response that shows the would-be listener isn't listening. I wouldn't say the least open-minded listener is the one who isn't here as that would apply to billions of people (and animals too). Specifically I'm think about those who aren't persuaded by any rational arguments.

Yeah - by not being 'here' I was kinda thinking about those who might be 'here' but not participating. The apparently disengaged would seem to have closed their minds to the possibilities of a spontaneous adventure. A deafening silence is a real pity on a philosophy forum, and perhaps what concerns a would-be poster. Who cares. Even if there is no reply - it doesn't mean that your voice hasn't been heard - your words not listened to.

I totally agree. The vast majority of those who come to the forums are lurkers which is a fact of life and is to be expected. How well a forum is moderated is a major factor. I'm well aware that many do follow me and others.
I just keep going on and do the best I can.

I'm with Henry on this. How long must one ponder issues, before one takes a stand? So unless you've not been thinking for the last half century or so, hopefully you've reached some conclusions you can accept, right or wrong.
