I'm so glad I discovered how to turn off Bill's images (in the User Control Panel, Board preferences, Edit display options, Display images within posts: NO.) Although it turns off ALL images, Bill is the only one who frequently (mis)uses the image functionality, so it was worth it to turn off all images so that I am no longer suddenly confronted with what's in Bill's head! (His behavior reminds me of a young child in potty-training wanting to point at his latest unpleasant "creation/discovery".)Arising_uk to Bill Wiltrack wrote:You really need to line all your gifs up one day and take a good long look at them as your subconscious is shouting from the closet.

Ooo! I didn't know we had that functionality. Thank you very much.

I invite both of you to actually comment upon the actual philosophical content of this thread.
I also recommend that both of you turn off the image function, write with only the font that you have been given by default, and work to put your thoughts and consciousness into a continually smaller box of less & less options. Thank you & good luck to both of you.

OMG! That's such a relief Lacewing
Already did reply to your post Bill.
Your mistake is in thinking that large bold fonts and a ton of whitespace add import to one's thoughts, it doesn't. It just places you in the loon category a la bob.

I'm glad you find it useful too.

I would never dream of deactivating any of Bill's symbolic gifs...the art of thinking in pictures. I even saved a few.

Apparently, they just don't understand how censorship actually works.
I'm still thinking & expressing myself. They are now limiting themselves.
I feel like their jailer...I don't want to be that guy.
...I pity them...what rules them.
Yet, what may be a much wider arena, fear and ignorance ultimately rules us all...

As he did not devise them, only repeat them like a sausage machine they are not 'thinking in pictures' in the conext of a thread on PN. Neither can they be called "Bill's"Dubious wrote:I would never dream of deactivating any of Bill's symbolic gifs...the art of thinking in pictures. I even saved a few.

Baby lambs are determined to reach the highest spot. It is a joy watching them play "King of the Castle" on a spring morning; they find any tiny tussock irresistible.Bill Wiltrack wrote:.

You can post what you like, just don't expect others to be forced to look. It's called freedom of choice.
Not if what is being thought and expressed is limited.I'm still thinking & expressing myself. They are now limiting themselves.
Your feelings are immaterial to me and yes you do. In fact your deepest desire is to be a guru but the best you can be is a Gnu.I feel like their jailer...I don't want to be that guy.
Save your pity for yourself. What rules me is the desire not to have your tawdry subconscious inflicted upon me unasked....I pity them...what rules them.
You and SOB will get on well.Yet, what may be a much wider arena, fear and ignorance ultimately rules us all...[/size].
You are a miserabilist and your posts are invariably negative.

No, apparently you don't realize how self-moderation and responsibility works. Your images cheapen PN and make it trashy. No one else does this... just you. It's not because other people aren't creative (and think in images) -- they just know better, and they know what's inappropriate to bombard others with. Text can be skipped over and ignored. Images are in a person's face. It's beyond rude to abuse that. I would never expect a Philosophy site to bombard people with such stupid images. They have NOTHING to do with the discussions -- they just reflect what you're thinking at the moment.Bill Wiltrack wrote:Apparently, they just don't understand how censorship actually works.

Why does it belong here????
It's not surprising how you spin this in order to try to elevate yourself and your behavior out of the space you're actually in. If I'm limiting myself by not wanting to be confronted with stupid-ass, gross, or disturbing images... especially on a FUCKING PHILOSOPHY WEBSITE... then that's a limit I'm more than happy to have! Are there things you don't want in your face, Bill? Do you therefore avoid those things and the people who ignorantly propagate them? Do you wish those people would HAVE A CLUE about the impact of what they do?Bill Wiltrack wrote:They are now limiting themselves.
You've only jailed yourself with who you are and what you think. The fact that people side-step your crap does not indicate that you are a god.Bill Wiltrack wrote: I feel like their jailer...I don't want to be that guy.
Going AROUND you and SKIPPING over you is exactly the OPPOSITE of being limited!!!Bill Wiltrack wrote: ...I pity them...what rules them.

I was thinking more in terms of how they're applied than who created them like most metaphors only in this case they're visual.Hobbes' Choice wrote:As he did not devise them, only repeat them like a sausage machine they are not 'thinking in pictures' in the conext of a thread on PN. I'm so pleased to learn that I'm not the only one irritated by those stupid images.
