LOL! Musician egos are funny, including my own, but can be painful when you're in the band. Singing is more personal, and the singer's heart and soul more exposed in performance than for most instrumentalists. I liked being at the back behind the drums. I could quietly work to overcome my stage fright and get warmed up without too much public scrutiny.Obvious Leo wrote:Nobody cared about any of this sort of shit back in my day. The only question of any importance was who pulled the best-looking birds and that was always the SINGERS.SpheresOfBalance wrote:But it has been put forth over and over again, that the order of intellect from most to least, of the members of a standard rock band quartet, is lead guitar, rhythm guitar, bass, & drums.
As with philosophers, there is a level of positivity required to make things happen. Singers especially need to shut out all the "logic" and "voices of reason" that tell you that your efforts are pointless because Google can provide 37,234,937 others who can do what do do, and many do it much better. There's a level of bloody mindedness needed, to not care and operate with great commitment in the face of public disinterest. Not easy when you're inclined toward logic.
