Donald Trump - Worst person of the year 2015
~ The Daily Beast ~

What can be said about Donald Trump that hasn’t already been retweeted by Donald Trump?

In 2015, the bloviating orange man with the cotton candy hair graduated from closet racist real estate tycoon to professionally racist public menace.

From the very moment he declared his candidacy for president he made his xenophobic agenda clear, branding Mexican immigrants “rapists” and drug dealers, and it’s only gotten worse from there.

He’s lobbed sexist insults at Megyn Kelly (and countless others), callously suggested the victims of the Paris terror attacks would have been “better off” with guns, and invented a story about “thousands” of Muslims celebrating the collapse of the Twin Towers in Jersey on 9/11 (it was Palestine).

In the wake of the San Bernardino shooting, Trump proposed a ban on all Muslim immigrants to the U.S.—pure fascism that’s alienated the U.S. from all Muslims, including our allied nations.

In doing so, he is playing directly into ISIS’s hands, helping to steer America (and by extension the West) into a global war with Islam, lending credence to their false notion of jihad.

Donald Trump is the Great Divider, and without question, the worst person in popular culture of 2015.

Yes, I agree with you.

Trump was/is not only irresponsible but he has directly put service men & women as well as ordinary Americans directly in mortal jeopardy throughout the world.

Now and into the future.

Obviously, you agree with Hillary - Trump is no longer funny.

Thanks for your post.

Maybe. But he makes a lot of good points too. Such as, when Dick Cheney attacked Trump over the Muslim ban, Trump pointed out that Cheney was the one who talked Bush into invading Iraq, leading directly to the current bloody mess. Now who else, GOP or Dem, has the balls to directly call out Cheney on the disaster unleashed by the invasion of Iraq.

Trump speaks the truth, and it's so refreshing that even if you hate a lot of what he says, you have to give him credit for standing up there and saying what nobody else will. Trump was against the war in Iraq and that puts him ahead of Hillary and against most of the GOPs in terms of foreign policy.

I agree with you...Trump says A LOT of things - too many things. And it's easy to be a back seat driver.

I don't get it, Bill. Why do you always want to talk about this plonker? I don't think anybody in the world pays him any attention so why on earth are Americans so fascinated by him?

Trump is the Republican front-runner for presidential nominee.

Trump has been a tremendous game changer.

He truly represents the voice of a very large swath of Americans
...THAT is something to be concerned with.

Democracy concerns you?

Why should we worry? I'd have thought this more a concern for Americans but given that Presidents can only be around for two terms and for half of those they are effectively impotent I'd have thought just sit back and watch the circus. Still, if he gets in then I hope Boris becomes Tory party leader as I'll vote for him just to see those two on the same podium as it'd be a hoot.

Your comedy stylings belong in a comedy club - NOT international politics.

Trump is the embodiment of confidence.

The realm of the intellect and reflection does not promote confidence. For a good reason.

Trump is a GREAT messenger. His message is the part of concern for a conscientious citizen of the world.

He is master of the media and he is manipulating the populous. That's fine. ALL politicians do that.

But with Trump we don't know what we are getting. The Presidency of the United Statea of America should not be reserved for someone WITH ABSOLUTELY NO POLITICAL EXPERIENCE.

Of course it does.
For a good reason.
Which would be?
Trump is a GREAT messenger. His message is the part of concern for a conscientious citizen of the world.
There is no political entity such that there are 'citizens of the world'.
He is master of the media and he is manipulating the populous. That's fine. ALL politicians do that.
He's not a master of the media, it's just that your populace is fairly stupid.
But with Trump we don't know what we are getting. The Presidency of the United Statea of America should not be reserved for someone WITH ABSOLUTELY NO POLITICAL EXPERIENCE.[/size].
Why? The rest don't seem to have been doing such a good job of it.

I don't know what you're worried about, Bill. Although it's not easy to underestimate the intelligence of the average American voter it's pretty hard to imagine that even in America the body politic would be stupid enough to elect a clown like Trump. However even in this unlikely event you're surely not suggesting that US presidents actually have any say in the way that the US conducts its affairs of government?

Don't bank on it, especially given their voter turnout, only just over 50% last time.

Depends who gets Congress I guess.

It doesn't matter which party wins, either in the Congress or the Senate. Both of these bodies are completely under the control of big business lobby groups who will get to call the shots as always. I'm not even daring daring to suggest that things are done much differently in my own country, although it's usually a bit less blatantly obvious. Democracy has been hopelessly corrupted by the corporate world pretty much everywhere as far a I can judge the matter.

The post above is pretty much spot-on.

Half the things Trump spits out are unconstitutional.

Trump's demeanor is like a dictator. There is no talk of him working together with others.

He has a vice-grip upon the fear & hatred that is just under the surface of America & he knows how to exploit it.

Trump will be the next President of the United States. Can't see how that is going to turn out well for humanity.

...it's not so much as Donald Trump being the worst person of the year - 2015, it's that he reflects the worst in people. He brings-out the worst in people. And that is something we own as Americans. I see America being energized by our most base hatred and fear. Not good.
