I'm trying to imagine a sub-fundamental structure. In abuilding, I suppose it would be either an oubliette or an earthquake-proofing layer.

You would not understand the answer, it's like explaining rocket science to an ignorant child ..it would not comprehend much of it, thus everyone would waste LOADS of time explaining very irrelevant details to each and every ignorant person asking silly stupid questions.
When we waste time explaining irrelevant things, we will get no where and not able to discuss elevated matters.
