Should religion be favored over philosophy?

Is there a God? If so, what is She like?

Theology jumps to invisible and imaginary Gods but philosophy can only jump to logic and reason. That is why it is superior to theology. It forces thought instead of the escape into fantasy.

Martin Luther.
“Faith must trample under foot all reason, sense, and understanding.”
“Reason is a whore, the greatest enemy that faith has.”

PhilX - you wouldn't make such a statement if you truly believed i was such. Fact is, im as down to earth as they come, and i can take any crap that anyone here on this forum wishes to push my way. If you cant take that shit here then you are truly going to have a hard time in the corporate crap world that we have been forced to be part of.
This is a philosophy forum ...and all i see from you is questions based on linked posts where you ask us what WE THINK. Who gives a fuck what WE THINK?
We want to know what YOU think based on your 'pulling of the data' from the internetz...otherwise its pointless and redundant. You are intelligent...take some drugs, fuck some hookers and experience the REAL ETHER that is reality...maybe then those around you will find your LIFE STORIES interesting!!!

Then you are quite ignorant about philosphy, Greeks had this weird term "spontanious genesis", when fish suddenly appeard in desolate lakes, where no streams could have led other fish to spawn there.
Philosophy are just as riddled with supersticion as religion, logic and reason are faulty if it's made by deluded people, and "deluded" is a commonly used term about philosophers by other philosophers that are clueless and babbles and raves.
..so, you don't know what you are talking about.

Should religion be favored over philosophy? This can have no correct answer. It would depend upon how you define both religion and philosophy. Personally, I don't think religion has anything to do with philosophy at all because I think philosophy requires rationality as its first principle and religion requires one to abandon rational thought. So any discussion on religion would be contained within theology and would never enter the bounds (realm?) of philosophy at all. But like I said before, this is a personal opinion based on how I define religion and philosophy.

I define religion as any branch of thought that derives from the acceptance as an axiom that there exists a being who designed and created the universe.

Are you saying that it's a waste of time for this forum to have a section devoted to the philosophy of religion?

No. I love this section and spend most of my time here. I just don't think it is philosophy.
