Should religion be favored over philosophy?

Is there a God? If so, what is She like?

Should religion be favored over philosophy?

Post by Philosophy Explorer »

In the US it certainly is. Both are belief systems, yet excuses are more readily made when it comes to religion as this article explains:

If you pulled the theological rules or tenets out of Christianity that have a corresponding philosophy in secular law, you would find that most Americans are secularists and not (real Christian) as they are following secular laws and are definitely not advocating for biblical law. They would not dare as stoning fornicators is a crime in the U.S.

Sure, most Christians will give religion top priority (verbally) but they are just being hypocritical which is a religious staple. This is obvious when one recognizes that they are never advocating for biblical law to be the law of the land.

Compare that to the more devout Muslims who are always trying to get Sharia put as the law of the land.

To put a dead theology from an obviously barbaric p**** of a God ahead of a live theology that responds to inquiry would be a crime against humanity.

Neither should be favored, both are guesswork and jumping to conclusions, but a tard like PE wouldn't understand.

If you're jumping to conclusions, blame your philosophical reasoning, not philosophy itself.

You sound like a Chinese fortune cookie (and that's a conditional statement you made so there's nothing to blame - you've been skipping your Philosophy 101 classes to go to the library to play video games).

Sorry about that Dalek. My phone blocked out your name at the top and I only saw Hex"s name when I responded.

I find it interesting that even a plainly philosophical thread such as this gets abuse from users just because it has a link. It shows you how small-minded some people get.

Theology jumps to invisible and imaginary Gods but philosophy can only jump to logic and reason. That is why it is superior to theology. It forces thought instead of the escape into fantasy.

Martin Luther.
“Faith must trample under foot all reason, sense, and understanding.”
“Reason is a whore, the greatest enemy that faith has.”

So many forget.

Great minds discuss ideas; average minds discuss events; small minds discuss people. Eleanor Roosevelt
