The US has very effective and simple laws which protect children from being at risk because of unsafe toys and I applaud them for it.
Presumably firearms are considered less hazardous.
A telling statistic

..u'r surely not very bright.Hobbes' Choice wrote:You've not offered a comparison. Without saying how many gunshots were fired in the USA you are just blowing hot air.HexHammer wrote:Yearh, but they'r like 5 mill or something about that, Gunslingerland has like 300 mill ..so the comparison is poor.
On this rubric. The USA would be shooting 1200 shots per year.
The USA knows how many get botox every year, but haven't got a clue how many are injured by police, nor how many are killed.
It seems over 700 people were gunned down by the police, and 150 of these were unarmed. Non fatal shootings are unknown.
On a conservative estimate, lets say that they were killed with one bullet, and the rest of the bullets accounted for the injured.
Hey - you do the maths.

Re: A telling statistic
to be fair the issue is not with guns alone
the people of texas love their guns as much as the people of montana do
yet the people of montana murder each other at the same rate as the Canadians do - although they rely on guns rather than bottles of maple syrop when they do decide someone needs killin'
Texans (and Alabamans and Mississippians etc) on the other hand murder each other in large numbers
