Biology is clearly not your long suit, Vor, since evolutionary theory seems to have passed beneath your radar. Do you seriously believe that humans have evolved in the way they have for a "reason"? Do you see evidence of a divine plan in nature?Vor wrote: The male and female genitalia perfectly complement each other, for a reason.

What is natural about a dildo or inserting a penis into an orifice designed to excrete fecal matter?

they don't know what they are talking about
you do know that heterosexuals sometimes use dildos and sometimes do it up the back doorWhat is natural about a dildo or inserting a penis into an orifice designed to excrete fecal matter.
heck, heterosexual women ahve been known to fuck their heterosexual men in the ass with a strapon (the term is 'pegging'

ok let me see if i can clarify
at no point did i decide 'guys are jerks - i will start finding girls attractive now'
in that sense it is not a matter of choice -

Re: Marriage For Everyone!
Yes it will, as evolution is exactly the reason homosexuals exist in the first place. And why they should be embraced by the fools, while unfortunately only being embraced by the wise. In the face of the biosphere, which depends solely upon balance, homosexuals are a very necessary part of attempting to maintain that balance. The human species has run-a-muck with it's numbers, thank 'god' for homosexuals! Now they need to step forward and grab up all the orphans so they can know the love of loving parents. The Inglorious One wrote:“Prove it” is the last refuge of fools. You error has to do with time. Even Rome didn't fall overnight.Dalek Prime wrote:A gnat wouldn't be on a philosophy forum... Or have the ability to make any rational error. All I'm saying is that evolution is the final arbiter of the value of “gay” marriage. Evolution is slow, but it is ruthlessly effective. In the end, evolution will decide whether same-sex marriage has survival value — not the courts, not popular opinion, not human sentiment or personal likes and dislikes. Law is life itself, not the rules of its conduct.
Do you 'fear' human sexuality? Does your 'fear' reflect that which you bring to the sexual table? Project much? Or so it surely might seem! While you fear their love, we can only pity yours, of course in your case we use the term very loosely!

Re: Marriage For Everyone!
Marriage can be made by old persons who no longer have sex.
It can be made by persons never intending to have children.
So I can't see the obsession with sex that Vor has on this issue.
The only common thread between all married couples is that on one day that agreed to spend their lives together and share resources.
And for many follows a lifetime of regret and no sex
The only difference is that before they had to be of different genders , now they can be the same.
PS - Oh yeah, and By the fucking way, Marriage is not NATURAL either.

Re: Marriage For Everyone!
Yet it's fools that believe they 'know' the way of the universe. The universe has only ever 'changed.' It is in fact the essence of time and space. Once all life was asexual, now there are both sexual and asexual, what will there be tomorrow? Only fools say they can know! Such are the so called conservatives, locked in that change that was, fearing that change which comes. Not able to see the universe for themselves, as if they are definitive of the universe. For them time is incomprehensible, they, only a moment, relatively a blink of an eye, though their eyes are wide shut, caught up only within their extremely minute span of witnessed change, as if that minute span of change is definitive of the never ending change that is in fact the universe. The Inglorious One wrote:Like I said: In the end, evolution will decide whether same-sex marriage has survival value — not the courts, not popular opinion, not human sentiment or personal likes and dislikes. Law is life itself, not the rules of its conduct.Kayla wrote:in evolutionary terms i do not see much of a difference between there being same sex marriage or not
if there was no same sex marriage i would still be living with my bff - and not as roommates if you take my meaning
we would not be able to adopt our daughter but in a universe otherwise (other than same sex marriage) similar, she would probably still be living with us
issues like inheritance and ownership and stuff and so forth would be more complex - but not really enough to deter us
The question is, is it your desire to conform to life itself, that is, to the ways of the universe, or to impose your way of life on the universe?
Here the first definition:
conservative [kuh n-sur-vuh-tiv]
adjective
1. disposed to preserve existing conditions, institutions, etc., or to restore traditional ones, and to limit change.
--Courtesy: dictionary.reference.com--
So it would indeed surely seem that conservatives are in fact the antithesis of the universe, their design solely so as to ensure they keep their version of the universe, because they fear loosing their current status of power, and potential of 'upward' mobility, which surely can only be seen as quite selfish indeed.
So conservative = selfish, while liberal = selfless.
liberal [lib-er-uh l, lib-ruh l]
adjective
1. favorable to progress or reform, as in political or religious affairs.

First it's definition, so we can get the truest sense of the word:The Inglorious One wrote:Why do you think it's progress?SpheresOfBalance wrote: The universe only ever has and only ever shall progress! Yet the selfish fools say/wish otherwise! Fear, their mind killer!

progress
[n. prog-res, -ruh s or, esp. British, proh-gres; v. pruh-gres]
noun
1. a movement toward a goal or to a further or higher stage: the progress of a student toward a degree.
2. developmental activity in science, technology, etc., especially with reference to the commercial opportunities created thereby or to the promotion of the material well-being of the public through the goods, techniques, or facilities created.
3. advancement in general.
4. growth or development; continuous improvement: He shows progress in his muscular coordination.
5. the development of an individual or society in a direction considered more beneficial than and superior to the previous level.
6. Biology. increasing differentiation and perfection in the course of ontogeny or phylogeny.
7. forward or onward movement: the progress of the planets.
verb (used without object), progress
10. to go forward or onward in space or time: The wagon train progressed through the valley. As the play progressed, the leading man grew more inaudible.
11. to grow or develop, as in complexity, scope, or severity; advance: Are you progressing in your piano studies? The disease progressed slowly.
Idioms
12. in progress, going on; under way; being done; happening: The meeting was already in progress.
Now my rationalization: Once, no life existed at all. As the universe proceeded to change, it's many constituents came together to form what is known as life. This life was once primitive, 'taking' what it 'wanted,' one would violently take ones cave, fire, food, and woman. We had no tools save the club we used to bash in the head of the one we took those things from.
Now we do none of that, at least the sane. Our interactions are much more diplomatic, and we have very complex tools to perform complex tasks. It would seem, that life is the universes crowning achievement. Born largely of hydrogen, to heavier elements and finally self animated life that was eventually capable of thinking about and understanding where it 'proceeded' from; the simplest of atoms to the most complex.
It would surely seem to me that the universe has 'progressed,' unless of course you see your life as retrogression. If you do then we have made a tool for that, it's called a gun. Place a high caliber barrel into your mouth, with safety off, fully loaded and pull the trigger.
But I seriously doubt that you truly believe, with all your trillions of cells, that you are not the natural 'progression' of the universe. The proof is contained in what has universally happened up until now, as who would say that the universe has retrogressed, has passed from a more complex to a simpler structure?
Quite simply, do you believe that if humankind can stay their self defeating ways, that one day they'll live in a world much like your favorite futuristic sci-fi book or movie?
For the universe, to progress is to proceed in time, to change, only each individual man, in their fear, wants it otherwise, they want their particular slice of time, to last forever. Isn't it enough that humankind lasts forever in their progression? Because with their progress, is the only way I can see it happening, as it's the only way it's happened, (too long, too stagnant, does not a future make).

Everything changes, therefore, all change is progress. Sorry. It doesn't work that way.
Human beings have the ability to rationalize anything -- and I mean anything -- that strikes their fancy. And they do.
