What is the proper role of time?

How does science work? And what's all this about quantum mechanics?

What is the proper role of time?

Post by Philosophy Explorer »

There are many questions about it (including does it exist?) This is one of the most hotly debated issues in science.

This article explores time. Whether or not you read it, I'm sure you already have your prejudices about time:

The article makes a blatantly false statement which physics claims is true. It claims that irreversible processes in nature generate increasing disorder in the cosmos because this is what the second law of thermodynamics mandates that it ought to be doing. However this is in complete contradiction of the evidence, the second law notwithstanding. The 13.8 billion year history of the cosmos unambiguously shows that it is evolving from the simple to the complex, NOT the other way around. The fact that you are reading this comment is complete and sufficient proof of this proposition.
