This was a good interpretation. When I originally saw the movie, I liked it for its unusual style and the way it focused on the bad guys as appearing like normal average people. But I never thought to relate this to Nihilism. I myself take a philosophical position of a kind of Nihilism too. But I think there is a silver lining in us to still be able to sufficiently 'feel' some moral rightness based on our experiences....especially those that help us reflect on us what we tend to inflict on others in bad ways. It was a great movie and in light of this essay by Mark Conrad, I like it even more for this interpretation. I'll have to re-watch it to see those details I missed in my initial viewing.
