Not any longer, the weapons have kind of neutralized each other over the years. We both know the arguments of the other. But the class thing is a tough nut. Those stripes kind of never wears out. The other being kind of upper class when you yourself is not is still hard to handle.duszek wrote:Is the lot so big that you would call it a "home front" ?Ansiktsburk wrote:after 26 years I can say that (political and class)opposites makes both lives richer, and widens both's views, but it creates a h*ll of a lot of quarreling.
Re: Do opposites attract?
Is it a question of preferences that annoy the other party ?
For example one person must have a glass of exquisite red wine, while the other much prefers a pint of beer of a local brand.
It´s like a lion and an elephant sitting at the same table and enjoying their respective meals.
My boyfriend and me we have no problems in this area, I am even ready to cook an extra meal for him. And if he shares my vegetarian meals I don´t mind if he decorates his plate with slices of sausage.

Re: Do opposites attract?
Yes I hear you. I was thinking of mental abilities. I guess the best way to say it is that it's like two pieces of a puzzle, they have to precisely interlock, and each must enjoy the way in which they do so; they each have to feed the other what the other needs; ones voids is what the other enjoys filling, and vise versa; ones shortcomings are the others strengths, and the reciprocal is also true. Confused? It is to say that the acceptance of these ideals are acknowledged by both parties, hence mental sameness. In other words, they have to be on the "same page" in terms of understanding one another. Could you really have a republican and a democrat sharing life together peacefully, if their stance was really important to them?duszek wrote:But it´s difficult to get both: physical difference and mental sameness.
And: why not mental difference to make the relationship exiciting and challenging instead of boring ? Some would argue.
For each to care of opposing ideals very deeply, can only create a rift between the two. While two with the same ideals, feed on each others thoughts on the matter. There are never to be two people "exactly" alike, sure that would become boring very quickly as challenge keeps the organism strong. I meant sameness in mental abilities. That they can each rise to the occasion equally. That when they look at each other they can see one another very clearly, which would require both being honest to a fault, with each other and themselves; sameness.
You could pair a cat and a dog together, but they would have to be equally capable of making allowances for the other, while at the same time love making those allowances. They should be equally mentally capable of viewing the other complete, and loving what they see.
Is my point any clearer? I've been trying to say it in many ways in this message. In each of our assessments of the topic at hand, too few a words are incapable of being very clear, because there shall always be sameness and difference between peoples minds. I see that the trick is an over all mental sameness that encapsulates all the differences between the two. The sameness is the greater in the meeting of the minds as they both understand this in that meeting, despite the lessor differences, that they both equally acknowledge; sameness?
OK, I'm "finally"

I see the point and I agree in general.
And yet, my boyfriend likes to use me as his memory disc or a dictionary.
I provide the information in a neutral way so that he feels like a boss getting help from an assistant.
The body language needs to express mutual respect, in spite of differing mental abilities.
(But we both have university degrees.)

i was talking to a friend who is dungeon mastering a campaign where a Lawful Good Paladin player character has been having an on again, off again relationship with a Chaotic Evil necromancer
everyone is pretty much in agreement that this will not end well - some differences in relationships are simply unsurmountable

Re: Do opposites attract?
i joined the gaming session via skype as a guest character last night
i am playing a cleric who is an inquisitor for the same church as the paladin - her indiscretions have come to the notice of church authorities and have a potential to create a serious scandal
so i was tasked with delivering a message for her from the higher ups to call the romance off and tell the church "punishers" (a home brewed paladin/assasin cross-breed class) where the necromancer is - if she does what she is told at this point, it may be possible to hush the matter up and avoid scandal
it seems that when girls start playing RPGs the games tend become soap operas rather than murder-fests

Does a rich person attract a poor person and vice versa ?
Re: Do opposites attract?
Does a slim person attract a heavy one ?
Oliver and Stanley were good buddies:
one was dumb (or did not mind to appear that way), the other one was vain and a smart alec.
