It's always a report from researchers at some university. In a way, I guess it must be interesting since it's being reported in the news, but who actually pays for these studies? Nobody in his right mind would pay for them out of his own pocket, but he's still paying for them through government subsidies and tax breaks given to universities. There's only one way to stop this larceny, get the goddamn government out of education altogether!

When you say; "Nobody in his right mind would pay for them out of his own pocket", what specific studies are you talking about? Wouldn't it depend upon what sort of study it is? Or are all academic studies ones which no one in their right mind would pay for?

I'm talking about all these studies that come out every day of the week on every subject under the sun. Who the hell commissions them and pays for them? Maybe nobody at all, but I guarantee you the researchers are being paid, and the tab is being picked up by the hoi polloi through their tax money.Gary Childress wrote:When you say; "Nobody in his right mind would pay for them out of his own pocket", what specific studies are you talking about? You're absolutely right, Bob. Why the fuck should the advance of human knowledge be paid for by human beings? As far as I'm concerned the moron who suggested we climb down from the trees has a lot to answer for. One need look no further than your noble self to see that "ignorance is bliss" should be the mantra for all humanity.bobevenson wrote:I'm talking about all these studies that come out every day of the week on every subject under the sun. What crap are you referring to? Since you haven't seen fit to tell us exactly which research project has filled your polluted mind with such self-righteous indignation you haven't allowed much scope for a meaningful discussion of its merits.bobevenson wrote:You think that crap is the advancement of human knowledge?

You know the kind of stupid studies that are part and parcel of the daily news, don't you? Jesus Christ, who am I talking to, a couple of troglodytes?

I reckon I've worked out what the problem is, Bob, and all you'll need to is read the instructions on your medication a little more carefully. It's the little green pill in the morning and two of the little blue ones before you go to bed at night. Try not to get them arse-about or you'll find that this will probably keep happening to you.

Why don't you oppressed foreigners just get together in two days and celebrate America's Independence Day, you know, the 4th of July, when we kicked King George's ass (and I don't mean his donkey)!

I always celebrate the 4th of July, Bob, because it is also coincidentally my late mother's birthday. I always raise a glass in toast to her and then a second glass in toast to the good old US of A. No 4th of July can possibly pass without this coincidence reminding me of how damn lucky I was that my mother was not an American.

Unfortunately, tyranny begets tyranny, and slavery begets slavery. It's too bad you have to die to get free.
