I hated this article from the get go.
"Thought is the attempt to understand the good, beautiful, and true in an orderly way. Man is naturally reasonable and oriented toward those things, so it’s a normal part of life. Even so, it depends on conditions that may not be present. It requires calmness and steadiness of attention, a world that is understood as stable and meaningful, and a willingness to let truth rather than desire or power be the guide."

Thought might be that sometimes, but most thought is about where is my next meal coming from; why is Bobevenson such a twat; and why does Bill leave spaces in this posts (does this reflect the spaces in his head); isn't the bird song nice at the moment; is it going to rain if I take the dog for a walk; what's on TV tonight.

And since it's a Catholic magazine... How about the thought; 'WHy the fuck has the Catholic Church persecuted people so much", "why has it promoted priests who have buggered children?" "Why has it sent some to places like Africa, where they are more likely to abuse children with less chance of being caught?"

" Attempt to understand the good, beautiful"- oh really. What if thought leads you to the realisation that such concept are idiotic?

Is paedophilia "good and beautiful?"

Totally agree - Catholicism is inherently hypocritical and at the root of the ugliness in organised religion.

Case in point, a local priest was defrocked for stealing a couple hundred quid to feed his gambling addiction but paedophilia remains rife and unpunished throughout the church. Reason enough to denounce the faith.

I'm glad that someone on this Forum also has a sense of the obvious.
