This article reminds me why Western philosophy has become the world's preeminent. Of all the philosophies it's the one that facilitates modernity. It has fought the traditions and superstitions that would have held back Civilization from progressing and surviving.

Western philosophy has also given us the language that best discloses the realities of the world.

Examples are the institutions that run the world, like in medicine, law, commerce and education. The separation of powers and the autonomy of institutions are also of Western philosophy. The networking and communications that connect the world are products of Western ideas. The emancipation of the individual is also Western. And don't forget the ideas of democracy and capitalism.
