My point being that Heaven is supposed to be a wonderful place to spend eternity, yet you can't have sex there so it sounds more like Hell to me.

I think for many people, sex is the greatest pleasure (some would argue food is up there too).

Though I haven't been there, and can't answer for sure, I would guess that there are far greater pleasures in heaven that there are on Earth. Why else would it be described as a reward for a good religious life? I do not make the mistake of assuming that the Earth is the best it can be, but allow that God has something better for me, even if I don't know what that might be, it's called faith.

Pretty much the opposite of what atheists accuse Christians of being, the usual Atheist attack is to set up a straw man, (That Christians don't really believe), and then destroying it. The amusing thing is that most religious people would agree that the straw man that Atheists attack, is not what they believe, and is wrong.

I understand what it means to be "good". I understand that different religions have different takes on what is "good".

I was educated in the Catholic school system. All Christian faiths, as far I understood, live by the teachings of the same person, so I don't understand how they interpret the same scriptures so differently.

Example: as a Catholic, I will probably go to Hell because I had a child out of wedlock, lived in sin, use contraception, and never confirmed my faith as an adolescent.
My counterpart, who attends a Protestant church, could live identically to me, but still go to Heaven because their God is a forgiving one.

It's the SAME GOD - allegedly.

I share your puzzlement on how different religions can derive different messages from the same teachings, however it's not up to me to decide what is right and what is wrong in that regard, I simply trust that God will know in the end and sort things out to God's own satisfaction. I also don't believe that it is the Earthly church who decides who goes to heaven and who does not, the church just does not have that authority, that is for God to decide, or perhaps as, some have suggested, the individual determines their own fate after death, and God simply agrees to the determination.

The Earthly corporate church has certainly drifted farther and farther away form the teachings of Jesus, and that is why I am seeking my own answers. I will say that I don't have all the answers yet, or even very many, but I'm really not too concerned about it because I read that we don't need to know all the answers in the end, we just need to have faith. If I do discover any of the answers, I will certainly post them for all to read, but I would advise patience.

The scriptures are certainly man made, but I don't consider them nonsense. I would consider them as mans attempt to explain what can only be described by Mythology.

Well, all I can say is that if heaven is sex less then I will be sad. Sex is one of the great pleasures in life.

If there is no sex in heaven then God must change the desire of people who enter....and if is the case, then why not make it so there is no desire to commit sin on earth...not that sex is sinful. ..well...unless you're doing it wrong...lol.

Anyway, pleasure must be what heaven's all about or it can't really be heaven. ..right?
