A Philosophy of Mind

Is the mind the same as the body? What is consciousness? Can machines have it?

Goethe has compared barometric reading from the same latitude on different meridians in Europe, America and Asia and he found that the variation of the barometric level were simultaneous: for example. In the tropics winds from Europe always blow from the northeast. The nearer to the equator the more the winds blow from the east, trade winds for exam[le are constant east winds. The more distance from the equator the winds take on a southerly direction until they are south-east. In India the barometer almost always stands at the same level. No thunderstorms were found by Perry in the polar regions, but almost every night he saw the northern lights in all directions.

The atmosphere arouses and rules earth activates cause and effect to all earth’s process. Life is subject of the atmospheric process. Earth is inert can in its own peculiar way fructify itself into vitality by the atmosphere. Perpetually life erupts at every point in the earth, lichens, infusoria and in the sea where countless host of phosphorescent life. These truly living organisms are other then geological organisms, for here earth is fertility as ground and the basis of all individuality and vitality.

Earth radiates energy into space at the same rate that it absorbs energy from the sun. The surface heat and atmosphere are perpetually ignited and incited by the sun, the earth absorbs energy from the sun and radiates this energy into space sustain a constant temperature.

If that is not possible then it's one of Wittgensteins 'moments'.
What on earth does this mean?

One of those things that cannot be talked about.

I see. You seem to have upset BB. Quite an achievement given her solipsistic tendencies.

It does seem to be a knack I've got :(

The 'christian door-knockers' tend to react badly to me as well and generally can get quite upset in my experience.

I don't think you've ever annoyed me but there's still time...

He's certainly annoyed me in the past, but then I can't think of a friend of mine who hasn't?

Good question.
No, for me, in general, it means I wrote great chunks of it but could not find a response to the end bit. So I cut/paste to a document in fear of the forums function of dropping inactive connections and my habit of forgetting this fact and losing my words. Then its a matter of remembering to return to the topic

Purpose is the absolute end of anything without it we cannot what we are beholding, may have seen before but for only a short time, or have lost the memory, which once was. Knowledge is termed recollection because it recalls things to mind in memory or through the sight or touch, or of some other senses. I am not speaking only of knowledge but of beauty, goodness, justice, religiousness, and all stamped with the name of essence.
Ernest Hemingway writes of purpose:

“From things that had happened and from things as they exist and from all things that you know and all those you cannot know, you make something through your invention that is not a representation but a whole new thing truer than anything true and alive, and if you make it well enough, you give it immortality. That is why I write and for no other reason that I know of.”

Reason for our existence our purpose Socrates believed is linked with divine law rises out of the state of cruelty into a conscious spirit. Conviction is a highway of pure conceit, on one hand and on the other hand, the actual carrying out purpose. Those opinions belonging to others follow purpose straight away criticizes thus hampers the natural ability, as a matter of fact, doubt makes powerless the undertaking.

Nothing is the measure of anything. If you want perfection, you must take a long and more winding road.

Purpose is the absolute end of everything but it is preyed upon, shoved against by doubters, those unthinking sluggishness purpose is reduced to some further time a mere mean to.

This may be the most veiled insult I've ever seen. I'll keep shoving if you don't mind.

Reason can be shown in magnetism.

Magnetism is a highly astonishing phenomenon is purely immaterial. For example, if I put a small piece of unmagnified iron small piece near a magnetized iron small piece I observe a movement. One ends of each small piece attach to the north pole of the magnet, while the other end will be repelled to the south. The un-magnetized small piece has become magnetized up to its middle point.

Iron fillings it is observed, attach themselves to a magnet up to its midpoint where attraction and repulsion disappears. This middle is the free centre; the neutral point can be compared with the centre of the earth and the two poles of the earth one pointing north, while the other points south. The North Pole repels and the South Pole attracts, the direction sun and the South Pole earth.

Generally, only metals can be magnetized principally in iron, but also in nickel and cobalt, metals have in them specific weight cohesion and inner crystallization are what causes metals to be magnetized.

The question arises what makes iron par excellence for the appearance of magnetism. It is because iron can be brought from a state of extreme punctiformity to one of malleability and can connect both punctiformity and fluidity in unity more or less in equilibrium.

Magnetism is present in iron ore; but lodestone is the metal in which magnetism is revealed.

Loadstone are not magnetic in the mines, only after loadstones are brought out of the mine that they become magnetic; therefore it seems the stimulus of sunlight in the atmosphere magnetism is revealed. The process of creating magnetism is not firm comes and goes. Look at molten iron it loses its magnetism when oxidized, forging, beating modifies iron's magnetic power. Forging iron readily iron becomes magnetized, but also readily loses Magnetism. Steel is much harder to magnetize but once it is its magnetism lasts longer. Merely to stroke iron converts it magnetic; it must be stroked in the direction of the mid-way. Even striking or knocking iron with your hand or shaking it in the air, makes iron magnetic. Actually, it is the greatest difficulty to make iron non-magnetic. Earth is a living magnet and magnetism is this wholly universal feature of the earth, all points of the earth are magnetized in its entirety.

I started on this journey by the light of purpose, without any assistance, and I persevered. I must have some divine reason dwelling within me that rules me. I cannot help it; I do what is willed.

I believe there is a conscious universal end that dominates my actions, lifts me out of the life of chance and change into world peaceful universality; and substantial character; into everything that flows like a gentle wind from a purer region.
I love philosophy and come hell or high water I study it write it and I never stray.
