Upon observing the ‘eternal present’ of American society, Kojève claimed that ‘man’ had already disappeared, giving way to a creature that, though looking exactly like him, shared nothing of the human. The human, he argued, is predicated on a historical process, whereas this new being was one devoid of historicity and, therefore, humanity. For Kojève, this ‘post-historical Man’ had returned to an animal state, albeit retaining his civilized mores. Post-historical Man builds his edifices and works of art as ‘birds build their nests and spiders spin their webs’ and performs ‘musical concerts after the fashion of frogs and cicadas.

It's okay, I liked the text and wanted to share it. I find it an interesting topic, to paraphase the text, 'he went to the US and saw a different kind of creature', wonderful; and that is so, man does change, is being changed, the system isn't changed to fit man but man is changed to fit the system. So how and where does this changing occur. Does it have to do with our culture, what role does mass mediia play in shaping the new man for the new system, etc. Should one resist it, or better to go along with it.
