Is tribalism the most enduring heritage from the past?
Re: Is tribalism the most enduring heritage from the past?
Ho sbagliato, è vero.
Anche il nome è sbagliato, come mi accorgo.
Conosci il forum "riflessioni" di Ivo Nardi ? A few years ago it was humming like a bee-hive. Then Ivo introduced tough controls and you had to wait several days for your posts to appear and if Ivo did not approve of them then they never appeared. But while I was there it was not bad.

Rubbish. Capitalism is the means by which the differences of language, tribe, class, culture and nation can be mobilised NOT through empathy but to exploit.duszek wrote:Empathy (an honest effort to understand someone, to follow his way of thinking) leads to cooperation across nations and languages.
This allows internet, capitalism and many other things to flourish.
Skippo ha raggione. Bravo.
The only thing that flourishes is the holder of the capital at the expense of the person doing the work.

Yes I know riflessioni.it, I am member of it, there I am Davide M.
I just hate their moderation, and yes, you have to wait for your posts to be published, but just several hours.
I have written something about Kant and Nietzsche for Ivo, but nowadays I find his site so boring.
PN is much better, and here, you members are the best thinkers on the web, everyone of you, trust me.

So the world of philosophical forums is not infinite ...
I used to be Lucy when I was still there, some years ago.
If you have to wait several hours the drive of the posters gets lost.

Nem tudom could mean "I don´t know" in Hungarian.

Spike:
It is probably not lack of empathy that is the problem in the Middle East but rather the over-consumption of amphetamines.
They speak the same language and know each other, but they get seduced by the promises of those who want to benefit from subjugating others.

Today is a very entertaining day on the forum.
First time in my life I have actually read someone cite the "Great Depression" in a post defending Capitalism.
Right after duszek declaring that "god is not stupid"!
Wonders never cease!

I don't see this. Perhaps you can explain, NedFirst time in my life I have actually read someone cite the "Great Depression" in a post defending Capitalism.
The Great Depression was a phase of capitalism. It was part of capitalism's learning and maturing.

Exactly like the financial meltdown a few years ago?spike wrote:The Great Depression was a phase of capitalism. It was part of capitalism's learning and maturing.First time in my life I have actually read someone cite the "Great Depression" in a post defending Capitalism.
The one that gave more billions of dollars to the bastards who caused it?
From the pockets of innocent bystandards?
PS. The excuse in both cases was: nobody could foresee it -- which is ridiculous because, in both cases, every sane and conscientious analyst had warned about it for years, except the sharks in the feeding frenzy drowned them out with their chorus praising capitalism.
Re: Is tribalism the most enduring heritage from the past?
I am sorry but you sound unsophisticated about it, all emotional.
Re: Is tribalism the most enduring heritage from the past?
Is that your best argument?spike wrote:I am sorry but you sound unsophisticated about it, all emotional.
I am sorry but you sound tooooooo sophisticated about it, all unaware.
If you want to understand capitalism and economics -- read John Kenneth Galbraith -- he was surprisingly honest about the reality of capitalism.
Not the nut-case Alan Greenspan who ruined the US economy with his stupid "monetarism" theory and, after the meltdown he said: "I guess I was wrong"!
Re: Is tribalism the most enduring heritage from the past?
PS. BTW emotions and intelligence are not mutually exclusive!spike wrote:I am sorry but you sound unsophisticated about it, all emotional.
In some cases, however, lack of emotions can lead to disastrous consequences.
