I am a senior student at the political science department I am writing my graduation project about the german jurist and political philosopher Carl Schmitt. I admire political philosophy but I have very limited knowledge of its methods since the most focus is given in our faculty to the study of international relations and comparative politics. I read about Schmitt and weimar Germany and I read Schmitt's legality and legitimacy , written one year before the Nazi party came to power. I was amazed by how some scholars identify Schmitt as a thinker with a Nazi orientation ( the crown jurist of the third reich) while others seem to be more apologetic about his thought and life. One scholar even called Schmitt the Medusa of political philosophy because he sparked so much controversy amongst scholars so i thought I should compare his notion of legitimacy to the one proposed in the Nazi political philosophy. I think this would be very important in order to position Schmitt's thought during the weimar republic and understand the affinities it has to the Nazi political philosophy. I am thinking of relying primarily on Schmitt's Legality and Legitimacy and a secondary source about Nazi political philosophy and I think Sartori's conceptual analysis would be fruitful because , the way i imagine it I am going to deconstruct the main elements of Both Schmittian and Nazi notions and compare them to one another but I was just wondering about something these approaches ( i don't know to say it but i will try) , they seem as if they were tailored to study a concept in its totality for instance legitimacy in western democratic states not a specific concept from one thinker's point of view i don't know if what i am saying makes sense..
I would appreciate any answers since my supervisor is unreachable at the moment because of some personal circumstances I am unaware of
Thanks in advance!
Excuse any spelling/ grammar mistakes since english isn't my native language

Re: Sartori's conceptual Analysis
I can not help for Sartori because I don't know him good. However, if you understand spanish, I recommend you that you read to González Cuevas and his La tradición bloqueada (it has three chapters, one of them is on Carl Schmitt). Also, in El valor del Estado y la significación del Estado, published by CEPC, whose prologue has a study about Schmitt's relations with Nazi State.
