Our real tax rate has never been calculated. The only way to do it is to add up the income taxes by all levels of government, all sales taxes, all social security and medicare taxes, all the myriad of other business and personal taxes, all government judicial fines and confiscations, all government fees and charges for various licenses, and the loss of value from government inflation of money, and then divide it by the country's income. Thank God this has never been done since it might lead to an immediate political revolution.
