"Art is not nonverbal. Some paintings are."
Can art be a non-emotional experience and still be perceived as art as far as the viewer is concerned?

Reasonably so, presumably the cave paintings showed the kiddies what to look for, hieroglyphs taught us much about the ancients, blueprints teach what to build, warning signs what to avoid, portraits what people wore, etc.kep wrote:are you sure art passes knowledge?

Badly so, language transmits knowledge using reason which is much better.Arising_uk wrote:Reasonably so, presumably the cave paintings showed the kiddies what to look for, hieroglyphs taught us much about the ancients, blueprints teach what to build, warning signs what to avoid, portraits what people wore, etc.kep wrote:are you sure art passes knowledge?

It's really not, less stimulation results in less cerebral activity which results in less cerebral thought and creative activity. It's why they show kids shows like Bill Nye and not long monochrome walls of text filled with jargon.kep wrote:Badly so, language transmits knowledge using reason which is much better.Arising_uk wrote:Reasonably so, presumably the cave paintings showed the kiddies what to look for, hieroglyphs taught us much about the ancients, blueprints teach what to build, warning signs what to avoid, portraits what people wore, etc.kep wrote:are you sure art passes knowledge?

That's why the world should be ruled by adults. If the adult population doesn't think to its full potential bad things happen.GreatandWiseTrixie wrote: It's really not, less stimulation results in less cerebral activity which results in less cerebral thought and creative activity. Really? Assume that I grew up naked in the woods and have just learned language by hearing it on a radio. Describe one of your shirts to me, without using a picture.

Another dumb statement. It is already ran by so called "adults". I consider the human species and infant race though worthy of abortion.kep wrote:That's why the world should be ruled by adults.
