Is the mind the same as the body? What is consciousness? Can machines have it?

That explains the muppets then.
A world of scare resources in which good will permeates only the surface layer of life.
Can you be a Schopenhauerian Marxist?
Beneath this is predation . Socrates was put to death for ideas.
No, he was not. He chose to stay and drink the hemlock.
Barbara Brooks should be put to death for pretending to have ideas.
So you'd be 'Socrates' jury then?
The Mod on this site is a fucking loser and a hypocrite.

As you are fully aware I'm not deleting your muppets for being sock-puppets but because you are using them as a mob to browbeat others.

Members can have as many avatars as they like but if they use them the way you do then I'll be deleting their posts as well.

You have broken the agreement about repeating the Dog Houses 'mob rule' behaviour in others threads so I'm carrying out my promise to you.

You will note that I'm deleting only the posts of your muppets that are being purposively offensive and not you but keep it up and the decision will soon be out of my hands.

I know that Straw dog and its army couldn't care less about my opinion, but I feel I have to stand up for my beliefs. At first I thought that Straw dog used a very humorous way in order to bring up very serious issues. (in fact I laughed really hard with some of its posts)

Now I have to say that I withdraw my support, since I noticed a very brusque personal attack against Arising_uk (who, by the way, has been extremely kind to me and I have never noticed an indecent behaviour on his behalf).

I don't want to enter in the middle of your fight and I know that my opinion does not matter, but I wanted to keep a clear conscience. Since I stated my support to the Straw Dog, I felt I had to withdraw it.

Course you will mate!

The drinking of the hemlock was the method of execution. Do we know that they'd have used another method if he'd attended and refused? You tell me the refs since you're the Greek scholar.

That Socrates was a brave man had already been proven by his earlier political actions and there is as much reason as any to believe that Socrates could have avoided his fate if he had so chosen.

He was not 'forced' in the sense you appear to think.

Do you see them threatening to kill anyone? Abusing others in anything other than a philosphical way? No.

The quality of gentleness must have got lost on your way through life is all I can conclude. If educated rightly, you would be gentle and moderate. The harmonious soul is both temperate and courageous and the inharmonious is cowardly and boorish, and uncivilized, never using the weapon of persuasion, You like a wild animals, all violence and fierceness, you don't seem to know no other way of dealing or have no sense of propriety and grace, always abusing and finding faulting with me.

I myself can only do well if I put effort into what I love. I love learning it makes me happy, so happy I happily wish other’s happiness.

Words and personalities depend on the temper of the mind, beauty, harmony, grace, and good rhythm they all depend on an ordered mind. That is if you want to do your work in life, which is ever directed towards

I see philosophy neither injuring nor injured by one another; these I imitate and to these I will, as far as I can conform myself to. Can a person help imitating that with which they hold reverential converse?

Come perceive the true nature of the beauty and grace; and receive the good and in everything shall flow, like a gentle wind from a purer region.

Les chiens aboient, la caravane passe.

(Dogs bark, while the caravan goes on.)

I might say more later, now I have to cook dinner for Mr. Mousky, my dear husband. A sweet, hard-working man.

I have never thought myself to be in any more perfect form than anyone else I have often wished that I have the clearness and distinctness of imagination and memory of some other’s who have. My knowledge was formed by a method of discipline which raised me little by little gradually to this point of my brief duration life will permit me to reach.

Language is given to us all through generation and each generation is to relate all things for the sake of preserving truth. The art of discourse is one and the same given in every generation, a dialogue that finds a likeness of everything. Every discourse written is a demonstration of the likenesses, which was used before.

I write to permeate the true likeness, which was used before, I mean a likeness of everything to which can be found. The art of disputation, is an art not confined to formal courts and the congress, but is the same in every use of language is an art not thrown down anyhow. There are principles in them not just what came into your head that is mere rhetoric.

A discourse ought to be a living adapted language of one generation and all generations.

A gallery of noble minds and heroes in history. They were not merely a representation of personalities , achieved in the first place a willing to give not superficial rhetoric but profound thought that exalts their love of knowledge.

Thales, the author of the Ionic sect was born according to the best calculation was born in the first year of the 35th Olympiad 640 B.C. He thought that the universe was a developed germ like animals and that water was God the all-powerful sustainer of life. He was also the first founder of Western Philosophy. The Greek scholars true had already considered the sun, mountains, earth, sea, and rivers as independent powers and revered them as Gods, but Thales thought God was water.

There is even a science called Thalassography, a physical geography that treats the sea, the word Thalassocracy means mastery of the sea.
In the latter part of his life and in a period of transition amongst the Greeks life had fallen into such disunity, it become the task of philosophers to undo this disarray and reawaken a spirit of knowledge.

Greeks at the time were in a transition from patriarchal system of kings into one of law or order. Thales fame was on the one hand, he grasped the practical essence of consciousness of moral laws on the other hand, he was famous for his axiom

Thales demonstrated a comprehensive universal significance to political affairs, but not in today’s sense of the word; because he truly lived in a democratic state and thus shared the responsibilities of the general administration and laws.

Arising's Weird (and Gay) Reply to Straw Dog

The drinking of the cock fluid was the method of satisfaction. Do we know that I'd have used another method if I'd not bended and proffered? You tell me the refs since you're the Greek scholar.

That I Arising am a gay man has already been proven by my nighttime actions and there is as much reason as any to believe that I could have avoided his spunk if I had so chosen.

I was not 'forced' in the sense you appear to think. I willing swallowed. Yummy!
What does this have to do with the Philosophy of Mind?

POPCORN!

But enough of this horseshit! I must now speak Philosophy of Mind.

Mind is like Buddha but of course you wouldn't know it if you were not a fat Chinaman not sitting on your fat Chinaman ass. Ahhhhh, but Buddha was an Indian and not a Chinaman and when I say Indian I mean the Asian kind, not the American (i.e. REAL) kind. That is the big bird fly in sky and shoot fire from fire sticks. Woowoowoowoowoowoo. Me heap like firewater. Woowoowoowoo kind.

Thanks you and good night.

Good night.

Sleep tight.

Ahhh, the null post! Well done Mousky, well done! That being said and all that, in other words, with number two you have to watch him more closely. And sure enough they missed the tell-tale signs and he had a little accident in his pants.

hi ponziq,
Glad you understood my point although you too appear a bit myopic.

But you're right, history of philosophy at best. The idea was to challenge what I understand as a christian view of Socrates as a 'sacrificial lamb' rather than a Greek 'martyr'.

What does the rest of your post have to do with the Philosophy of Mind?

What is your understanding of Philosophy of Mind? I think I understand and probably agree with you what it's not.

p.s. The Greeks appeared to quite like man-on-man action.
