ancient civilizations
how does the fact that thousands-millions of gods have faded into obscurity not ring with the religious?
i seriously cant understand how you could ignore it
it is not complicated
insight?

Otherwise I would contend that there were far fewer Gods, it's just that some Gods had many names, but still "thousands of millions" seems a bit much.
Also, why should we regard so many false Gods, when there is only one true God.

Some of them think that the world started 4004BC, and god chose only the Jews at first then changed his mind about 2000 years ago, and welcomed the guys that think being nailed to a cross was a great idea.private wrote:how does the fact that thousands-millions of gods have faded into obscurity not ring with the religious?

For 40,000 years the people of Australia lived and died sinners, without ever hearing about the one true god.thedoc wrote:Can you name them?private wrote:how does the fact that thousands-millions of gods have faded into obscurity not ring with the religious?

Re: ancient civilizations
Why should the fading-into-obscurity of gods that were not compelling matter to those who follow compelling god(s)? Put differently, if monotheists are right, and there's only One God, then it makes perfect sense that thousands-millions of other (false) gods have faded into obscurity. In fact, that could actually be taken as evidence of the truth of monotheism. The obscurity of these other gods is irrelevant to the religionist if they were simply myths and not actual god(s).private wrote:how does the fact that thousands-millions of gods have faded into obscurity not ring with the religious?

If it's not complicated why do you then ask the question?private wrote:how does the fact that thousands-millions of gods have faded into obscurity not ring with the religious?

Then it's not simple for you, but it's actually very simple and you don't understand it.private wrote:because i cant understand the illogical ignoranceHexHammer wrote:If it's not complicated why do you then ask the question?private wrote:how does the fact that thousands-millions of gods have faded into obscurity not ring with the religious?

Do you cry each day and all day for all those who die of starvatyion, muder, suicide and due to all kinds of other things? ..no?
So why would religious care about other gods?
You have a weird sense of logic.

If an omnipotent God stands by whilst millions of people die, suffer, and presumably go to Hell having never heard about the 'one true god", that implies that God is either impotent, stupid, or evil.HexHammer wrote:private wrote:Then it's not simple for you, but it's actually very simple and you don't understand it.HexHammer wrote: because i cant understand the illogical ignorance

The world is a big place, and Catholicism has only been around for a very short time.David Handeye wrote:Who told you? All the saints of catholic church are the ancient gods.
One saint, one god.
What about the millions of other people following the wrong god? What happens to them?
Why does god seem impotent about their salvation?

In fact. But this is the hypocrisys, or in any correct way it should be written, of religions.Hobbes' Choice wrote:The world is a big place, and Catholicism has only been around for a very short time.David Handeye wrote:Who told you? All the saints of catholic church are the ancient gods.

I believe it is the teaching that those who do not know Christ are viewed as an innocents, and will not be condemmed.Hobbes' Choice wrote:If an omnipotent God stands by whilst millions of people die, suffer, and presumably go to Hell having never heard about the 'one true god", that implies that God is either impotent, stupid, or evil.HexHammer wrote: Do you cry each day and all day for all those who die of starvatyion, muder, suicide and due to all kinds of other things? ..no?

What does "not condemned" mean? Surely that makes a mockery of the whole system.thedoc wrote:I believe it is the teaching that those who do not know Christ are viewed as an innocents, and will not be condemmed.Hobbes' Choice wrote:If an omnipotent God stands by whilst millions of people die, suffer, and presumably go to Hell having never heard about the 'one true god", that implies that God is either impotent, stupid, or evil.HexHammer wrote: Do you cry each day and all day for all those who die of starvatyion, muder, suicide and due to all kinds of other things? ..no?

And as I am an atheist but what happens to me, having rejected god?
