Er! They've not had the election yet? But I doubt it was this speech, this is just you trying to make political capital, as the Israelis are an intelligent bunch of voters and I think the Arab Israeli vote being united is making a dent. Still, given Israel never returns a majority party and has always had coalitions the real politics starts after the election.

May I ask, did you find George W a traitor as well? Or was his 911 plot of blowing up the towers not an act of treason.

Though I am in the middle of travel of late I did have the chance to see the news for a brief time today.

TREASON and 47TRAITORS is STILL trending upon America's new feeds.

President Barack Obama has appeared quite dignified throughout this unfortunate embarrassment but the fact that this treasonous letter, sent to Iran, has DAMAGED a possible world-wide MAJOR nuclear arms treaty is now certainly world-wide news.

Stay tuned for more fallout
and post anything I may have missed.

Thank you. Stay strong!

Er! I just read the letter and basically it tells the Iranians that any treaty made by a president is not worth the paper it's printed on if Congress or the next president does not agree with it. If that's true then why is this treason and not free-speech?

It's not treason, it's stupidity. Yes, that is the way our politics work. But in my eyes that's a good thing. God forbid we get stuck with a bad president for life.

How stupid of the republicans to cut their nuts off to spite their dick. Someone should write them a letter saying, "Does that explanation of how our politics work still stand when ya'll are in office?" Why do they always have to be so fool hardy? They love to just wing it, not thinking about the future or consequences. Remember when they choose Sarah Palin? LOL They just don't think...

It has always been true, of course. Nothing new in that!

henry quirk wrote:One man's treason is another's just rebellion.
Treason is not defined by rebels, but by the state. So 47 men's rebellion is treason nonetheless.

The law is clear enough:

Any citizen of the United States, wherever he may be, who, without authority of the United States, directly or indirectly commences or carries on any correspondence or intercourse with any foreign government or any officer or agent thereof, with intent to influence the measures or conduct of any foreign government or of any officer or agent thereof, in relation to any disputes or controversies with the United States, or to defeat the measures of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both.

However the constitution and the laws that protect it have never been a significant cause célèbre of the US state, as when it has suited the powerful to ignore them, they do so, on the grounds of expediency.
The result is that the Ferguson police department can use black people for finance generation, and the fascist of the National government can enact rouge activity simply as they have to power to get away with it.

I suppose it would depend on the degree of treason?!?!

This is 'writing a letter' to a foreign power.

How can there be any such thing as 'treason' in the 'land of the free...' or 'home of the free'? I forget which.

But these writers are not just citizens, they are elected officials of the United States govt so presumably they have authority?
