Sci-fi, Rapture of the Nerds is the dream of uploading oneself into smart-matter.GreatandWiseTrixie wrote:What is that a futurama thing or something? Never heard of nerd rapture.

Seems like a nightmare. Videogames are boring enough, imagine living in such a plain world. All complexity of thought, but no complexity of reality to interact with.Arising_uk wrote:Sci-fi, Rapture of the Nerds is the dream of uploading oneself into smart-matter.GreatandWiseTrixie wrote:What is that a futurama thing or something? You would be interacting with the world? Just not with this body.GreatandWiseTrixie wrote:Seems like a nightmare. Videogames are boring enough, imagine living in such a plain world. All complexity of thought, but no complexity of reality to interact with.
p.s.
My apologies, what's a 'virtual' clone that needs DNA?

The simulation would have to be advanced enough to synthesize the process of virtual life based on DNA data. The process is not at current Earth technology capabilities, but of course once they use it they will abuse it and cause much strife, as they so love to do.Arising_uk wrote:You would be interacting with the world? What does this, "synthesize the process of virtual life", mean?GreatandWiseTrixie wrote:The simulation would have to be advanced enough to synthesize the process of virtual life based on DNA data. ...
Who's this 'they'?The process is not at current Earth technology capabilities, but of course once they use it they will abuse it and cause much strife, as they so love to do.

The humans. Basic jist is to get all of the DNA codons and from that create a simulation that creates virtual avatars based on the DNA configuration. It would have to generate avatar traits based on a set of DNA rules. Do I recommended they do this? No a virtual world would be boring.Arising_uk wrote:What does this, "synthesize the process of virtual life", mean?GreatandWiseTrixie wrote:The simulation would have to be advanced enough to synthesize the process of virtual life based on DNA data. ...Who's this 'they'?The process is not at current Earth technology capabilities, but of course once they use it they will abuse it and cause much strife, as they so love to do.

No more boring than this one?GreatandWiseTrixie wrote:The humans. Nope it would be even more boring.Arising_uk wrote:No more boring than this one?GreatandWiseTrixie wrote:The humans. Since when has suffering been boring?

Boredom is a form of suffering, people say they like videogames but only the dweebiest of dweebs would actually want to live out the rest of their lives in one.Arising_uk wrote:Since when has suffering been boring?

I thought you said the universe is already one? But it wouldn't be a video game just a transfer from this body to a smart-matter one. Still can interact with the universe just at another level and also at a hell of a faster rate.GreatandWiseTrixie wrote:Boredom is a form of suffering, people say they like videogames but only the dweebiest of dweebs would actually want to live out the rest of their lives in one.
