Philosophy has no general votary, and has the appearance of being an esoteric ownership, because in the first instance philosophy is only the essential principle or ideal. In possession of few individuals, philosophy thus turns into something odd.
Philosophy is perfectly determinate in form is at the same time capable of being understood by most people, understandable and capable of being learned and everybody possesses it. Philosophy is offered to everyone, an open road to it is made plain for all.
What is intelligible is something from the first familiar and common to philosophic and un philosophical mind alike, enabling the un philosophical mind to enter the subject of philosophy and reaches neither detailed completeness nor perfection.
Formalism has been depreciated and despised by recent philosophy but it will not disappear from knowledge, till the science of absolute reality has become quite clear as to what its own true nature consists in.
Gradually I accustomed myself to conceive truth more accurately and distinctly; and not having restricted this method to any particular matter applied to the difficulties of philosophy. I thought I could find no method more simple or more distinctly represented.

and has the appearance of being an esoteric ownership, because in the first instance philosophy is only the essential principle or ideal. In possession of few individuals, philosophy thus turns into something odd.
if this is the case then it does have a votary; the votary being the odd
style of delivery; but let us not get bogged down in style. Your work has no meaning it is just a string of disjointed words.
Philosophy is perfectly determinate in form is at the same time capable of being understood by most people, understandable and capable of being learned and everybody possesses it.
Except when they read your verbal can of worms.
Philosophy is offered to everyone, an open road to it is made plain for all.
A pointless statement!
What is intelligible is something from the first familiar and common to philosophic and un philosophical mind alike,
In your case it is unintelligible to any mind philosophical or otherwise.
enabling the un philosophical mind to enter the subject of philosophy and reaches neither detailed completeness nor perfection.
More jumbled BS
Formalism has been depreciated and despised by recent philosophy
Bullshit rubbish.

More rubbish gibberish.
Gradually I accustomed myself to conceive truth more accurately and
distinctly; and not having restricted this method to any particular matter applied to the difficulties of philosophy. I thought I could find no method more simple or more distinctly represented.
Total meaningless gibberish again.

Silence me, silence philosophy, which is my love, for philosophy is always telling me what is always true.
When I began I did not intend to try to master all the various relationships or proportions that are represented in philosophy I just thought it would make me wiser. Gradually I accustomed myself, I could not find more exciting pastime, to conceive accurately and distinctly philosophy.
What was taught me I realized was already in my consciousness as chance had arranged it. Sometimes I was required to consider each classification of philosophy and to keep them in my memory or to embrace several at once I wrote them down.
I am now as assured of their accuracy as of my own existence. I studied the best and examined and reexamined, sifted and compared until my inward voice proclaimed no possibility of uncertainty. I increased my understanding little by little raising it to the highest possible point.
The power and capacity of learning exists in mind already.
Educators today are concerned with philosophers personal foibles too much on the philosopher lives rather then the interpretation. They make a system of this and teach it, even though they have no real idea of what philosophical interpretations means. When the unworthy of education approach philosophy what comes out has nothing akin to love of knowledge.

Socrates believed that the harsh feeling which many people entertain towards philosophy originate from the pretenders, who rush in uninvited, and who are always abuse philosophy and find fault with philosophy, they would rather ridicule the philosopher this is theme of conversation.
What was taught me remained in my memory just as chance had arranged to I considered each particular and in order to keep them in my mind, borrowing all that is best in knowledge and correct the errors. I listed everything, which gave objectivity to the rules of nature and I exercised reason, if not perfectly, at least as well as was in my mind.
Through labor, I examined and reexamined, filtered and equated until a sound inward proclaimed to me no possibility of doubt. Although really it is strange to say that I know this and understand seems to me even ambiguous I examined everything if not perfectly at least as well as what is in my mind could and as sure of my own existence. I increased my knowledge little by little raising it to the highest possible point.
We are perfect in form and possessed by everybody knowledge; unfortunately, people like bullies make its appearance esoteric.

then the wisdom would emerge only out of the wisdom that no wisdom emerges. Someone here asked where are all the wise men.
The world is not a place where wisdom has evolutionary advantage.
The greatest survivors are the unwise.
This is a pastime which is a self deception. Your whole life here is sustained on page views because Rick Lewis does not have the insight to see how that corrupts you. Or if he does ,he cares nothing about your sanity.
He is the unwise .
You must give up this subconscious babble. It is not magic of philosophy it is meaningless noise.
If you want to learn about philosophy read Schopenhauer.
Read and learn about the crisp delivery of ideas and stop talking nonsense.

Believe me when I tell you I am for real. Maybe my writing is pious but my life certainly is not. I have gained knowledge not in the ivory towers of academia but by getting up early in the morning, before going to work studying the great ancient philosophers.
All philosophy students ought to reach, and not fall short of is all knowledge of mutual affinities, not until then will the pursuit of knowledge and truth have any value.
If every person's approach were peculiar and were not shared by the rest of species, how could we ever communicate our impressions to one another? I mean to say if only there were not some community of feelings among people kindly.
Knowledge is not to be found anywhere in the field of opinion or subjective views, it is not a matter of clever turns allusive phrases, or half utterances but consists in open, unambiguous, meaningful, and purposeful expression. Truth is the idea and the idea alone grasps truth.
The cruelty, anger and superstition in the world would empty out if knowing that all one can do in this world is be good and that is the highest of all gifts of humanity.
Grasp the whole truth right way you will have no difficulty in apprehending the preceding my remarks. All germs or seeds, whether vegetable or animal, when they fail to meet with proper nutriment, or climate, or soil, in proportion to their vigor, are all the more sensitive to the want of a suitable environment, for evil is a greater enemy to what is good than to what is not.

What you have done is read some bullshit written in the days when English grammar was used in flowery ways and your mind has started to mimic the style .It is a subconscious parody of high minded rhetoric.Barbara Brooks wrote:Believe me when I tell you I am for real. But your parody contains no coherent ideas.
You have nothing to say of any worth.
You are as deluded as a crappy karaoke singer on the Xfactor who believes that he/she is as good as Tom Jones or Whitney Huston.
You are in the grip of a self destructive delusion.

Few students study philosophy thus. it turns into some peculiarity yet everybody it is possessed and offered to everyone.
Philosophy you have set aside making wealth to dedicate wholly upholding of truth, we make philosophy our craft, no imitation; except of course courage temperance holiness, freedom, and the like; all growing into habits they become second nature.
You believe nothing. Your wisdom might be compare to a person who studies the irritability and needs of a wild beast and learns how to control the beast, and know the meaning of its several shouts, knows what soothes or infuriates it. That is the sophist and they perfect this.
You call this knowledge, wisdom, and even edify these desires and disposition of the wild beast. The sophist calls good to be that in, which the wild beast takes pleasure in and evil to be that which the wild beast has an aversion.
The true philosopher skill is memory, courage, magnificence, and use opinion not as first principles, but only as hypotheses. That is to say, hypotheses ass steps and points of departure into a world, which is above hypotheses, ascend beyond to the first principle and then by successive steps descend again without the aid of any sensible object, from ideas, through ideas, and in ideas ends.

Or more so acting five years old. You are compelled into believing that nothing is honorable any more than dishonorable, or just and good any more than the opposite unjust and bad. You argue for amusement, and are always contradicting and refuting others, possibly imitating those who are refuting them, like puppy-dogs, pulling and tearing at all who come near them you rejoice.
But when we get older, you will no longer guilty of such extreme; you will seek truth, and not be an extremist contradicting for the sake of amusement; your character will increases in your pursuit of honor.

Under the guidance and in the company of reason and knowledge you should pursue after wisdom and win the pleasures which wisdom shows.
That is inasmuch as you follow truth; you will have the pleasures, which is best for each one is also most natural to me?
When your whole soul follows the philosophical principle, and there is no division, you will enjoy the best and truest pleasures of which are capable?
Today what is honored is the sum of money from wisdom but the true virtuous wisdom is dishonored; Today riches is cultivated, and what is dishonored neglected is true virtue.

No, its me that doesn't do that, not Rick Lewis. If it was being "offensive" or "superfluous" that earnt deletion of posts or words, you'd have been first in the queue.Straw Dog. wrote:...No one of any intellectual standing will be able to understand why Rick Lewis has allowed this nonsense to go on.
His idea of a democratic forum is free speech and yet he routinely deletes
words and posts that he finds offensive or superfluous.
In society there have to be rules . There is no such thing as “free speech” only a perception of what free speech amounts to.
Rick Lewis should get a grip and lock this thread.
If he ever wants to be taken seriously as philosopher then this is what he should do.
You mean, 'me, with my 'intellectual' standing, cannot understand why all this nonsense is allowed to go on?'. Which is why you'll never be Admin or Mod here.
I should think that Rick Lewis would be to busy with his philosophy magazine and his family to care much about your opinion concerning what makes a serious philosopher or not.

You are a fucking loser with no judgement or talent. You are the reason the wise get buried in life. The also rans and average wankers of the world rule. That's why the world is fucked up because of shit heads like you.LAZY FUCKING BASTARDS I HATE. GET SOME WORK ETHIC YOU SCUM AND WORK THIS FORUM.
Touched a nerve!? Must have as I see you brought a muppet with you ?
My understanding is that you wish to turn BB's thread into the travesty that was yours.
We're aren't going to play thanks. As we think the comparison between you and BB will prove Schopenhauer to once more be a bitter loser.
However your appeal for a work ethic has not reached deaf ears so I'll be deleting the muppets pointless posts.
