The Best of Everything is in California
The best of everything is in California. They have the best military facilities and the best pacifists. They have the greatest castle and the greatest ghetto. They have the best places to meet people and the best places to be alone. They have the most talented actors, musicians, speakers, dancers, writers, etc. They have the best houses and the best outdoors. They have the greatest corporations and the greatest governments. They have the best skiing and the best beaches. They have the best deserts and the best forests. They have better ethnic foods than the countries that originally invented the food. They have the best concept of money and the best concept that money isn't everything. They have the best cities. They have the best schools and the best bars. They have the best dress pants and the best blue jeans. They have the best freeway system and the best trees. They have the best marriages and the best fornication. They have the greatest ethics and the most fun. They have the best gold and the best asphalt. It is the embodiment of idealism.

Shouldn't we thank California for inventing smog?A_Seagull wrote:Ignorance can be such a beautiful thing.

I'd have to agree on many of your points, as Cali was my home away from home for 14 years. It was then, a very nice place indeed. Of course that was pre-2008-recession, so I'm not sure it still holds true. I've just got to add that I'm originally from a very conservative area, and that good old Cali had an aire of freedom I could actually feel, and when I returned to my land of conservatism I could actually feel the oppression. Of course I lived in the San Fran Bay Aarea, much nicer than L.A. IMHO! If only I could afford to live there, I definitely would.Systematic wrote:The best of everything is in California. Cal is beautiful.
But I speculate it stole all of its extra beauty by draining it off Ohio.

Re: The Best of Everything is in California
It was the country I loved, the redwoods, the serenity. On several occasions I went into the redwood forest and it was so dense, and isolated that I heard a high pitched hum in my ears for a time after settling in with no sound being created because it was the off season, no tourists. I later found out that the hum was due to the noise pollution I was subjected to in the cities, the hum was a result of the damage the cities did, only to be noticed in it's absence. Though the cities were very clean, very well kept. The roads knew not potholes, so ones automobile lasted much longer. It was often like driving on a well kept race track. There were multitudes of quaint little villages in pristine condition. In those nice areas people were polite, and courteous. It seemed like everyone was happy and content, but then why wouldn't one be, with all the beauty around you. It made for a great day indeed. Yes, I loved my home away from home, a great place to explore, and find treasures almost everywhere I looked.Immanuel Can wrote:Cal is beautiful.

Ohio is where I'm originally from, yes. So it's my home of origin, the place where I return when I need to revisit my childhood. For some reason I've always had to return there from time to time, seemingly to keep myself sane. Away for too long and I get edgy, jumpy. I'm sure it has to do with angst! But I digress.
Later!

"Patriotism is your belief that your country is great because you were born in it."
George Bernard Shaw.
If you think everything good is in California, one must ask if you have traveled at least to most countries in the world, experienced perhaps a taste of their culture and then come home and said nope California is great the whole world is shit comparatively.
Suffice to say I cannot begin or even bother to explain all that is wrong with the OP. But the ignorance is astounding. The best place in the world is the world you numpty.
One must hope the OP was being ironic...
