~ Thou shalt not kill ~

Is there a God? If so, what is She like?

Just to clarify, I think it is obvious, accident differs from murder in that one is supposed to be intentional, the other, not so much.

If this is the case then why don't you add a proviso. In small print of course:

THOUGH SHALL NOT KILL.
(except in case of accident)

Thou shalt not kill.

The 6th commandment.

Pretty simple and straight forward.

Have you ever killed someone?...even by accident?

Has the government that represents you ever killed someone on your behalf?

Are you a christian?

Do you believe in hell?

Are we in hell?

Would probably also need the caveat of something along the lines of "and sanctioned killing." Otherwise, we wouldn't be speaking of the 6th Commandment.

Part of the problem is that God seems to have made a flat out statement "Thou shall not kill" and then orders his "Chosen People" to kill a lot of other people, because "Those Godless heathens are making it difficult for my 'chosen people' to behave.", or something along those lines.

No, the Hebrew is clear that "kill" in the general sense is not what YHWH forbade. The 6th Commandemnt is a prohibition against unjust killing. It should be translated "Thou shalt not murder." Many modern translations do so. As such, God commanded "his" people not to murder. Insofar as battle was commanded by "him," it was not a violation of the 6th Commandment. David's killing of Uriah, Bathsheba's husband, was.

What did you have for supper?
Yeah, and what's your cholesterol level. It comes from eating meat, and if too high it will "KILL" you! ;)

Can any lessons be gleaned from that fact? ;)

My cholesterol levels are right where my cardiologists (I have 2 different ones, built in 2nd opinions, and they both ask for regular blood work) want them to be, both kinds of cholesterol. And my favorite part of the beef, ham, chicken is the most fatty, which I eat a lot of. Eating the highest cholesterol parts of the red meat isn't a problem for me. One size DOES NOT FIT ALL. Different people digest fat differently, so what. If it's going to kill you, don't eat it, as for me, I like it and I can eat all I want. Eating meat will not kill me, so where does that leave your argument. FYI, several years ago I had a cardiac catheterization and the Dr. said my arteries were clear. So a high cholesterol diet doesn't seem to be a problem for me.

And that wasn't the point of the post, what did you eat that you didn't kill in the process, maybe some fruit, but what about the rest of your meal? How many vegetables did you kill to survive? and that's just in the cooking, or did you execute them raw (alive).

No problem, just add another caveat to the policy:

"Acts of God excluded"

Hang on.....???

I thought my post clarified everything for you. Why are you all still arguing about this? Go back and read it.
