Hi Ginkgo,
Yes, all viewpoints and approaches which may enlighten the brain-mind problem: neuroscience, cognitive sciences, psychology, linguistics, etc. Philosophy has special value, because, IMO, final theories and explanations are still behind several paradigm shifts.
I give special value to the evolutionary approach, because evolution gives us models which we may never find elsewhere. I've sometimes said that the biggest barrier to understanding how our brain works is our logical mind.

Re: Hi
Our models are mostly derived from our role as conscious agents; what we can consciously do, or create. We have evolved as toolmakers; the power of toolmaking may have been the first difference between humans and other animals (before language). Even our gods, which we created in our own image, were conscious agents with powerful tools.
Thus, conscious agency is our ultimate historical limit. We have no "natural" access behind it. But there, in the "paradise lost" our consciousness evolved. There are the answers, not in the beliefs that if we create more and more complex technical ideas, consciousness suddenly pops up from the whole mess.
Thanks for your interest, Ginkgo. I'm sure you can see through my metaphors.
